Spotlight 27: Digitally showcase your event’s brand

You can measure your event’s performance on two parameters, the ROI and the “experience” it gives attendees. While the former might seem more important at first glance, it’s the latter that defines an event’s true success. The bigger, more lasting the impression your event leaves, the more chances you'll have to convert attendees into repeat attendees, patrons, and even sponsors.

One way to provide an experience that leaves a lasting impression is event branding. Successful event branding can bring your event’s essence—message, vibe, purpose—to life so attendees can associate better with it. Most events already have a solid onsite event branding strategy; however, with virtual and hybrid events on the rise, online branding is more important than ever. In-person events can also reap a lot of benefits from digital branding like brand awareness and consistency to name a few.

With Backstage, you can feature your event’s brand in two prominent places: the event microsite and the event app. Apart from this, you can also use your brand color as the background color for your emails and share branded event banners on social platforms.

Branding the event microsite

The microsite is your event's online address. All of your attendees will, at one point or another, drop by your event microsite. By making it an extension of your organization, you can ensure that it is easily recognizable, not to mention credible. You can accentuate your brand in four ways:

  • Theme: Choose a theme that is similar to your brand’s tone and color. Backstage currently has 10 themes ranging from formal to fun with multiple color variations in each theme. You can select a theme in the Design tab of the Microsite Builder.
  • Logo: Add your event or organization’s logo to the event website. It will show attendees that your website is authentic. Go to the Branding tab in your portal’s Settings page to upload your logo. Alternatively, you can add the logo for individual events in the Branding tab of the event’s Manage dashboard.
  • Favicon: Include a smaller or more minimalistic version of your logo as your event microsite's favicon. Not only does it support brand awareness, it also helps with tabbed browsing. Click the Settings option in the left pane of the Design tab and then Favicon to upload your favicon.
  • Custom domain: For a completely on-brand experience, you can also customize the URL of your event microsite. All you need is a custom domain, its CNAME record, and an SSL certificate. If you don’t have an SSL certificate, you can apply for one through Backstage.
Finally, you can use the many customization options available in Backstage to fine-tune the look and feel of your event microsite until it perfectly matches your brand.

Branding the event app

Event apps are becoming increasingly popular, and attendees expect events to have them. By white-labeling the Zoho Backstage for Attendees mobile event app, you can make it represent your brand and give attendees a customized event experience.

You can request a white-labeled attendee app from the Custom apps tab of the Branding tab in your portal’s Settings page. The app will be available for download in around eight to ten business days. And the best part is you don’t have to worry about maintaining your app. Throughout your subscription period, we’ll provide you with the latest versions of both the iOS and Android apps. All you have to do is publish them on the App Store and Play Store.
