What is the difference between deleting a contact and permanently deleting a contact?

Within the Contacts module, you can delete the contacts in two ways – either bulk deleting them or deleting an individual contact.

If you bulk delete contacts, you'll see a pop-up requesting your confirmation of deleting these contacts. You'll see that you can manually re-add these contacts in future. Here's how it works:

If you are bulk deleting the contacts, they will get deleted from your Zoho Marketing Automation account. However, they won't be permanently deleted. Data related to these deleted contacts will still be available from our end. So, if you manually re-add these contacts either individually or via import, as soon as these get added to Zoho Marketing Automation, their data will be automatically populated.

For example, say you've deleted a contact for whom the First Name and Date of Birth were filled. If you manually re-add this contact without filling data in these two fields, those fields will get auto-populated with data that was present at the time of deletion.

If you're deleting an individual contact, in the pop-up that appears, you can go ahead with deleting the contact without ticking the Delete Permanently checkbox. If you do so, you'll be able to manually re-add this contact. If you enable the Delete Permanently checkbox and delete the contact, you can't re-add it from your end.

If you still wish to re-add that particular contact, they have to add their details via a signup form, a pop-up, or other means.
