Course completion certificates

Zoho Learn helps you create certificates that learners can download after they complete a course. You can enable certificates for all courses, including the ones that do not have any requisites for course completion. You can select a template, change the elements in the template, and insert auto-filled fields to build a certificate that suits your course.

Creating a certificate 

To create a certificate for a course:
  1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Expand button on the Certificates option.
  3. Click Create Certificate.
  4. Browse the templates in the design library. Click Preview to see a preview of the certificate design. Click Select to select a design.
  5. Drag and drop the elements and fields you want to add to your certificate.
  6. Click Preview to see a preview of the certificate.

Working with the certificate editor 

Adding elements to your certificate:

To add a heading to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Heading to drag and drop it on the certificate.
  3. Enter the text for the heading.


To add a paragraph to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Paragraph to drag and drop it on the certificate.
  3. Enter the text for the paragraph.
To change the font style of the text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Font style dropdown to the top of the editor view, then set the font style.
To change the font size of the text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Font size dropdown to the top of the editor view, then set the font size.
To insert a dynamic field in the element:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Insert fields dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the field.
To change the font color of the text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Font color dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the font color.
To make the text bold:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Bold icon to the top of the editor view.
To make the text italic:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Italic icon to the top of the editor view.
To underline text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Underline icon to the top of the editor view.
To change the alignment of the text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Alignment dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the alignment style.
To change the background color of the text:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Background color icon to the top of the editor view, then select the color.
To insert an inline image in the element:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Inline image icon to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Upload Image icon and select the image from your device.
  4. Click Ok.
To edit the element as HTML:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Edit as HTML icon to the top of the editor view.
  3. Edit the HTML code, then click Ok.
To change the spacing for the element:
  1. Select the element.
  2. Click the Spacing dropdown to the top of the editor view, then set the margins.
To add an image to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Image to drag and drop it on the certificate.
  3. Click the Upload Image icon and select the image from your device.
  4. Click Ok.
To change the size of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Image size dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the size.
To change the border of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Border dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the border.
To change the spacing of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Spacing dropdown to the top of the editor view, then set the margins.
To change the alignment of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Alignment dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the alignment style.
To change the background color of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Background color icon to the top of the editor view, then select the color.
To change the border color of the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Border color icon to the top of the editor view, then select the color.
To edit the HTML for the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Edit as HTML icon to the top of the editor view.
  3. Edit the HTML code, then click Ok.
To change the image:
  1. Select the image.
  2. Click the Change image button to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Upload Image icon and select the image from your device.
  4. Click Ok.
To add a table to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Table to drag and drop it on the certificate.
To insert a column before the current column:
  1. Select the column.
  2. Click the Insert column before icon to the top of the editor view.
To insert a column after the current column:
  1. Select the column.
  2. Click the Insert column after icon to the top of the editor view.
To insert a row before the current row:
  1. Select the row.
  2. Click the Insert row before icon to the top of the editor view.
To insert a row after the current row:
  1. Select the row.
  2. Click the Insert row after icon to the top of the editor view.
To delete the current column:
  1. Select the column.
  2. Click the Delete column icon to the top of the editor view.
To delete the current row:
  1. Select the row.
  2. Click the Delete row icon to the top of the editor view.
To add a spacer to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Spacer to drag and drop it on the certificate.
To change the height of the spacer:
  1. Select the spacer.
  2. Set the height for the spacer to the top of the editor view.
To add a line to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Elements tab.
  2. Click Line to drag and drop it on the certificate.
To change the thickness of the line:
  1. Select the line.
  2. Set the line thickness value to the top of the editor view.
To change the style of the line:
  1. Select the line.
  2. Click the Line style dropdown to the top of the editor view, then select the style.
To change the margins of the line:
  1. Select the line.
  2. Click the Margin dropdown to the top of the editor view, then set the margins.
To change the color of the line:
  1. Select the line.
  2. Click the Line color icon to the top of the editor view, then select the color.
Adding dynamic fields to your certificate: 

Add dynamic fields to your certificate that will be auto-filled depending on the settings of your course. You can select from the following dynamic fields for your course certificate:
  1. Course Name
  2. Learner Name
  3. Author Name
  4. Completed Date
  5. Start Date
To add a dynamic field to the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the certificate editor, then go to the Fields tab.
  2. Click a field to drag and drop it on the certificate.


To change the dynamic field:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Field name dropdown to the top of the editor view and select a field.
To change the label options for the dynamic field:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Label options dropdown to the top of the editor view and select a label option.
To change the font size of the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Set the font size in the Text properties section.
To change the font color of the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Font color icon in the Text properties section, then select the font color.
To make the field value text bold:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Bold icon in the Text properties section.
To change the background color of the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Background color icon in the Text properties section, then select the background color.
To change the spacing for the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Spacing icon in the Text properties section, then set the margin values.
To change the alignment of the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  3. Click the Alignment icon in the Text properties section, then select the alignment.
To change the border for the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view, the go Border properties.
  3. Select the border type in the Border section.
To change the border style for the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view, the go Border properties.
  3. Select the border style in the Style section.
To change the border color for the field value:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Format Value dropdown to the top of the editor view, the go Border properties.
  3. Click the Border Color icon in the Color section, then select a color.
To edit the field as HTML:
  1. Select the field.
  2. Click the Edit as HTML icon to the top of the editor view.
  3. Edit the HTML code, then click Ok.
To delete and element or a field:
  1. Click the element or field on the certificate.
  2. Click the Delete icon.
To change the background image of the certificate:
  1. Click Background Image to the top of the editor view.
  2. Click the Upload Image icon and select a file from your device.
  3. Click Ok.
To delete the background image of the certificate:
  1. Click the Delete icon to the top of the editor view.
To change the page orientation of the certificate:
  1. Click the Page orientation dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  2. Select a page orientation.
To change the margins of the certificate:
  1. Click the Page options dropdown to the top of the editor view.
  2. Set the values for left, top, right, and bottom margins.
To preview the certificate within the editor:
  1. Click the Preview button in the bottom-right corner.

Editing a certificate 

To edit the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Expand button on the Course completion certificates option.
  3. Click Edit.

Deleting a certificate 

To delete the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Expand button on the Course completion certificates option.
  3. Click Delete.

 Downloading a certificate 

To download the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Expand button on the Course completion certificates option.
  3. Click Download.

Previewing a certificate 

To preview the certificate:
  1. Navigate to the course, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Click the Expand button on the Course completion certificates option.
  3. Click Preview.
