Adding an instance specific command in the end application

An instance-specific command is created and available exclusively to a particular device, asset, or location.

All Command operations require necessary permissions. Refer User Profiles document for more details.

To add an instance-specific command, you must first enable the corresponding option that allows the creation of such Commands.

To enable instance specific command addition,
  1. Access the Developer Application.
  2. Select Asset or Devices or Location in the left pane based on the model to which you want to enable instance specific command addition. For this illustration, Device is selected.
  3. Click the name of the model you want to add the Command Template to. For this illustration, the device model Smart Equipment is considered.



  4. Select Model Settings in the left pane.



  5. Toggle ON in the instance specific command option and click Save.



Instance specific command addition for the model Smart Equipment is now enabled.

With the instance-specific Command addition now enabled for the model, you can create instance-specific Commands for any instance derived from the model.

To create an instance-specific Command,
  1. Access the End Application.
  2. Select Devices > Devices in the left pane.You can select Assets if you have enabled this option for an asset model or select Location if you have enabled the option for a location model.



  3. Click the name of the device you want to add the instance specific command to. This opens the device's information page. For this illustration, the device: Smart Fan is considered.



    Note: Ensure the device is based on the model for which the option was enabled.
  4. Select Actions > Command configuration.



  5. Click Add Command.



  6. Select Instance Specific as the Creation Type and click Proceed.



  7. Provide the required values in the corresponding fields. For this illustration, a command: Fan Mode is selected.

  8. Click Add.
A Command called Fan Mode, exclusive for that specific instance, is created.
