A datapoint template can be edited only in the developer application and modifications are limited to the parsing key and datapoint status.

All Datapoint operations require necessary permissions. Refer User Profiles document for more details.

To edit a datapoint template,

1. Access the Developer Application.
2. Select Asset or Devices or Location  in the left pane based on the model to which you want to import the datapoint template. For this illustration, a Device is selected.
3. Select the model name from which the datapoint needs to be deleted. For this illustration, the device model: Home Gateway is considered.
   
   
   
   
4. Select Datapoints in the left pane. This will open the datapoints list view.
   
   
   
   
5. Hover over the datapoint template you want to edit and click the ellipsis (...) button that appears.
   
   
   
   
6. Select Edit from the context menu.
   
   
   
   
7. Make the necessary changes. For this illustration, the parsing key was changed from "temperature" to "temp_C"
   
   
   
   
8. Click Update.
   

The new parsing key will be updated to the datapoint template and reflected across all the datapoints in instances created from the selected model.
