Associating a custom function as a message handler in a device model
You can create multiple message handler custom functions for a device model and then choose the one that you require for it. This ensures that all devices based on that model will automatically include the message handler.
Prerequisite: You must have already created one or more message handler custom functions for this required device model.
To associate a custom function to a device model,
- Access the Developer Application.
- Click Devices in the left pane.
- Click on the name of the device model for which you want to add the message handler. For this illustration, the device model DG Gateway is selected.
- Scroll down on the left pane of the device model's information page and select Message Handler.
- Click Configure Message Handler.
- Click Associate Custom Function.
- Select the custom function you want to use as the message handler and click Associate.
Note: Make sure the current device model was selected in the Model/Module field when the custom function was created; only then will the custom function appear in the list. - Click Save.
The selected custom function will be associated as the message handler for the device model.
