Alarms
Alarms are notifications or alerts generated by the Zoho IOT application when specific conditions defined in the alarm rule are met or significant changes are detected in the behavior of monitored devices, assets, or locations. These changes are monitored in real-time through incoming data from the configured datapoints in the devices, assets, and locations.
Alarm History
Alarm History is a feature that provides the log of all the alarms, both user and system alarms generated in the application, in chronological order. Custom views with alarm rule type/name provides easy views of alarm history for a specific group of alarms.
Audit Logs
Audit logs are a list of various actions performed in the application. These logs help to track different user actions and the outcome.
Alarm Rules (or) Alarm Rule Instance
Alarm rules are user-defined conditions based on which alarms are generated and actions or alerts are initiated.
Asset (or) Asset Instance
Asset is a managed entity and is used to represent monitored resources in the application.
Asset Model
Asset Models are like blue prints based on which asset instances can be created. Asset models can be configured with datapoint templates, command templates, alarm rule templates, and overview dashboard templates.
Client
Customer (an institution, vendor, or company) using the IoT Services provided by the MSP.
Client Certificates
Certificate utilized by the device for authentication to the server and facilitating secure communication.
Client Portal
Entryway configured by the MSP for the client users to access the application.
Commands
Commands are actionable buttons that can control devices and assets connected to the Zoho IOT application. Toggle, slider, pick-list, buttons, and numeric entries are the command options available in Zoho IOT.
Dashboard
Dashboards are interfaces that can be populated with widgets to visualize metrics and data sent by the devices to the cloud. Global dashboard can be configured to visualize data from all the connected devices, assets, and locations.
Data Explorer
Data Explorer is a type of report in Analytics that allows you to plot graphs using the input values received from the connected devices. These data can be plotted and visualized for raw or aggregated data based on various time series.
Datapoint
Datapoints store time series data parsed from the payload sent by the connected devices. Devices send multiple values as information in JSON format. Unique data can be identified, extracted and manipulated, from the received values and stored as individual data by assigning datapoints.
Datapoint Groups
Grouped collection of datapoints for different situations and use cases.
Dataslicing
Dataslicing rules determine which users have access to specific data.
Device (or) Device Instance
Device is a managed entity instance created to represent the physical hardware that connects and sends information to the Zoho IOT application. Device has the connection credentials using which the hardware can connect to the application.
Device Model
Device Models are like blue prints based on which asset instances can be created. Device models can be configured with templates, and device instances with similar functionalities and use cases can be grouped under a device model.
Device Products
Device product is a module that has datapoint templates and settings of a particular device. When a product is associated to a model, the datapoint definition added to the model as datapoint templates, and the settings are reflected in the device instance of the device product and device model combo.
Location
Location is a managed entity instance created to represent the location of devices or assets in the Zoho IOT application. In some cases, location can be represented as an asset.
Location Model
Location Models are like blue prints with templates based on which location instances (also referred to as Location) are created. Template configurations here such as Custom Fields, Datapoints, Commands, and Alarm Rules of the model are copied to the Location by default on every location instance creation.
Managed Entities
Managed Entities are devices, assets, or locations that are monitored and managed in the Zoho IOT application. These entities, also known as instances, are derived from corresponding device, asset, or location models. The datapoints within these managed entities provide essential metrics that serve as crucial inputs for monitoring purposes.
Managed Entity Modules
Managed Entity Modules are modules specifically designed for creating IOT instances (records). The three types of managed entity modules are Device Module, Asset Module, and Location Module. Instances of Managed Entity modules cannot be directly created. A model for the managed entity module must be created, and based on that an instance can be created.
Module
Every component in Zoho IOT is a module. Records created based on each module is called instances and similar records are grouped under the same module. There are two types of modules, Managed Entity Modules, and Non Managed Entity Modules.
Non Managed Entity Modules
All modules except the device module, asset module, and location module come under non managed entity modules. Templates are a special type of non managed entity module. Apart from the standard available modules, custom non managed entity modules can be created to store information.
Notification Profiles
Notification actions can be triggered for managed entities based on specific criteria of alarms using Notification Profiles. Actions such as sending emails or SMS, executing commands, or triggering a webhook are the actions. Though mostly used for system alarms, the functionality can be used for both user and system alarms.
Onboarding
Onboarding is the process of establishing a connection between a physical device and a Zoho IOT application and parsing a datapoint from the payload.
Overview Dashboard
Overview Dashboards are interfaces that can be populated with widget to display data of one managed entity. Overview dashboards are added as templates to a model and all the entity instances derived based on the model will have them.
Policies
Policies define the permissible actions for communication between the device and cloud that enables you to send and receive MQTT messages. Any policy created must be linked to a certificate. When the particular certificate is assigned to a device, it ensures that only the allowed communication happens with the device.
Portal
Application Portal, also referred to as Portal or App Gallery, is the entry way for signed up users to access the application. Multiple applications can be created in one portal based on the requirement.
Reports
Reports is a powerful feature in Zoho IOT that is used to generate insightful reports. Chart type or tabular reports can be created based on real time or historic data. They are grouped on time or the common properties of the module.
Simulator
Simulator allows user to mimic the working of a gateway device. Simulator is an inbuilt tool available in Zoho IOT Application. It enables users to generate data that can be used to configure other features such as Alarm rule, and Dashboard, before actually connecting to a network.
Status Propagation
Status propagation is a mechanism where the health of an instance is propagated as the health of another instance
Templates
Templates are part of managed entity modules that offer IoT capabilities for storage, control, and automation. Instances of templates cannot be directly created. They need to be included in a model, and when a model is created, instances of the templates are automatically generated.
Users
Individuals added to the Zoho IOT application.
User Groups
User groups are collections of users with similar characteristics or permissions used to manage access and permissions in the application.
User Profiles
Profiles are used to define the level of permission to various features and entities in Zoho IOT applications. Four profiles: Super Admin, Administrator, Developer, and Standard are available as default in the application and can be used as profile types for creating new profiles.
Widgets are elements in the dashboard that can be configured to show various information. They can be configured to show realtime data, summarized information, images, text, etc. Widgets can be resized and placed at any supported location on the dashboard to create a personalized view. Charts, cards, commands, maps, and calendar are examples of some widget types available in Zoho IOT Dashboards.
