A tracking pixel is a small code that tracks user activity on a webpage. These pixels are often used by third-party platforms like Joveo, Indeed, Facebook, and others to collect data about website visitors and their interactions. In recruitment, a tracking pixel can help you gather valuable insights about candidate behaviour or after they apply for a job, allowing for more detailed reporting on conversions.
By embedding a tracking pixel on your Zoho Recruit careers page, you can gather data on how effective your job posts are at converting visitors into applicants. However, it's important to note that Zoho Recruit supports conversion tracking only, meaning that pixels will only track data after a candidate submits their application.
For example, if you are running a recruitment campaign on Facebook or Indeed, and you want to measure how many people who clicked your job post applied, you can embed a tracking pixel provided by these platforms to track this data and optimize your future campaigns accordingly.
Note: Tracking candidate interactions at other stages—such as viewing the job post—is not supported.
Using a Tracking Pixel
To add and embed a tracking pixel in your career site:
- Contact your third-party service provider (e.g., Joveo, Facebook, Indeed) to obtain the link for your conversion tracking pixel.
- Navigate to Setup > Career Website > Career Site.
- Edit the Candidate Application Form to enable tracking.
- On the Settings page, paste the tracking pixel URL (provided by the third-party platform) into the designated field.
- Once the pixel URL is embedded, click Save.
The conversion tracking pixel will only be triggered on the application confirmation page, i.e., after a candidate has successfully submitted their application.
Note:
Make sure that the pixel URL you paste begins with `https:`.
Some platforms may provide the URL without the `https:` prefix (e.g., `//px.ads.linkedin.com/collect/?pid=123456&conversionId=abcdefg&fmt=gif`). If this happens, manually add `https:` to ensure the link is valid.
Here’s an example of what a pixel URL might look like:
https://px.ads.linkedin.com/collect/?pid=123456&conversionId=abcdefg&fmt=gif
Verifying if the Pixel is Added Successfully
After adding the pixel, it’s good to test if it has been successfully embedded and is functioning properly. Here’s how to do that:
Submit a Test Application
Navigate to your careers page and submit a mock application to one of the job postings.
Check Using Browser Inspector
On the application confirmation page, right-click and select Inspect. In the Elements or Network tab of the inspector, search for the pixel code. If you can find it, the pixel has been successfully added and should track candidate conversions correctly.
Best Practices
Use the Pixel URL Only
Do not include any additional code, such as scripts or metadata, when embedding the pixel. Only the pixel URL is required for tracking.
Stay Compliant with Data Privacy Laws
Always ensure that your use of tracking pixels complies with data privacy laws like GDPR or CCPA. Inform candidates about tracking in your privacy policy and ensure you have their consent before enabling any tracking features on your careers page.
