To begin with, you have to click the Filter option in the view bar of your table. A pop-up window will be displayed asking you to begin applying filter for your views. Click the +ADD CONDITION option. This option lets you add as many conditions as your table may need.
When creating a condition for a filter there are three options involved, they are:
Condition | Explanation | Field Type Applicable |
filename contains | This filter displays filenames that contain the name you provide in the filter box. For example, if you provide 'John' only file names that contain 'John' in them will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filename does not contain | This filter displays filenames that do not contain the name you provide in the filter box. For example, if you provide 'Josh' file names that don't contain 'Josh' in them will alone be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filename starts with | This filter displays filenames that begin with the name you provide. For example, if you provide 'Josh' file names that start with 'Josh' will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filename ends with | This filter displays filenames that end with the name you provide. For example, if you provide 'Josh' file names that end with 'Josh' will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filetype contains | This filter displays filetypes that contain the requirement you provide. For example, if you provide 'Mary' file names that contain 'Mary' in them will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filetype doesn't contain | This filter displays filetypes that do not contain the requirement you provide. For example, if you provide 'Mary' files that do contain 'Mary' in them will be alone displayed in your field. | attachment |
filetype starts with | This filter displays the filetypes whose name start with the requirement you provide. For example, if you provide 'Hulk' only file names that start with 'Hulk' will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
filetype ends with | This filter displays filetypes whose name end with the requirement you provide. For example, if you provide 'Hulk' only file names that end with 'Hulk' will be displayed in your field. | attachment |
is empty | This condition displays records that have empty values (empty field values, empty data). | attachment, autonumber, collaborator, created by, created time, currency, date, email, formula, link, lookup, multiselect, modified by, modified time, number, percentage, phone number, rating, rollup, single select, text, URL |
is not empty | This condition displays records that do not have any empty values. | attachment, autonumber, collaborator, created by, created time, currency, date, email, formula, link, lookup, multiselect, modified by, modified time, number, percentage, phone number, rating, rollup, single select, text, URL |
equals(=) | This condition is used to display exact records. If you want to display records that match the exact characters you have provided, use this condition. For example, if you want to display the record 'jhelleker1@netvibes.com' from a list of 1000 records, this filter condition will display that exact records. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, email, formula, link, lookup, modified time, number, percentage, phone number, rating, rollup, text, URL |
not equals (≠) | This condition is used to hide or omit certain records from being displayed. For example, if you have a list of '1000 emails', and want to omit a particular email, say ''ahuske7@unesco.org'' from being displayed, use the Not Equals filter condition. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, email, formula, link, lookup, modified time, number, percentage, phone number, rating, rollup, text, URL |
before(<) | This condition displays values that are before the requirement you provide. For example if you type '8', all the values that are before '8' will be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating, |
after(>) | This condition displays values that are after the requirement you provide. For example if you type '22', all the values that are after '22' will be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating |
on or before(≤) | This condition displays values that are either equal to or before the requirement you provide. For example if you type '22', all the values that are equal to '22' or before '22' will be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating |
on or after(≥) | This condition displays values that are either equal to or after the requirement you provide. For example if you type '22', all the values that are equal to '22' or after '22' will be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating |
between | This condition displays values that are in between the value range you provide. For example if you provide the range as between '2' and '22', all the values that are in between this range will alone be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating |
not between | This condition displays values that are not in between the value range you provide. For example if you provide the range as between '2' and '22', all the values that are not in between this range will be displayed. | autonumber, created time, currency, date, modified time, number, percentage, rating |
today | This condition will display the values that have changed for today alone. For example if you have configured the modified time field and configure this condition, records that were modified today alone will be displayed. | created time, date, modified time |
tomorrow | This condition will display the records that have tomorrow date. | date |
yesterday | This condition will display records related to yesterday. For example if you have configured modified time, and select condition as yesterday, all the records that were modified yesterday will be displayed. | created time, date, modified time |
one week ago | This condition will display records related to one week ago. For example if you have configured created time as the field type, and select condition as one week ago, all the records that were created one week ago will alone be displayed. | created time, date, modified time, |
one week from now | This condition applies to the date field alone. It will display records that have dates configured to one week from the current date. | date |
one month ago | This condition will display records that were either created a month ago, have configured the value exactly a month from the current date or were modified a month ago. | created time, date, modified time |
one month from now | This is applicable for the date field alone. The records that have dates exactly a month after from the current date will alone be displayed. | date |
number of days ago | This condition will display records based on the number of days you provide in the filter box. For example, if you select created time as field type and give the value as 7 in the number of days ago section, the records that were created 7 days ago will be displayed. | created time, date, modified time |
number of days from now | This condition is applicable only for the date field. It will display records based on the number of days from the current date. For example, if you select 7 as the value, the records that have the date 7 days from the current date will alone be displayed. | date |
is selected | Applicable for checkbox field alone. Will display only the selected checkboxes. | checkbox |
is not selected | Applicable for checkbox field alone. Will display the checkboxes that are not selected. | checkbox |
is any of | This condition filters the value based on the name. For example if you have configured modified by field type and select the value as 'John' the records that were modified by 'John' alone will be displayed. | collaborator, created by, modified by, single select |
is none of | This condition filters the value based on the name. For example if you have configured modified by field type and select the value as 'Alex' it omits the records modified by "Alex" and displays the rest of the records. | collaborator, created by, modified by, single select |
contains | This filter condition returns records that contain the value you provide. For example, if you want to display records that contain the value 'John', enter the value 2 in the filter, only the records that consist of the value 'John' will be displayed in the field. | email, formula, link, lookup, phone number, rollup, text, URL, |
does not contain | This does not contain filter will display records that do not contain the value you provide. For example, if you want to display records that do not contain the value 'Shaw', enter the value 'Shaw' in the filter. Records that does not have the value 'Shaw" will be displayed, rest of the records will be displayed. | email, formula, link, lookup, phone number, rollup, text, URL |
starts with | This condition is used to display records that start or begin with a certain value. For example, if you want to display phone numbers that begin with the number '+91', you can use this filter option. You can see that only phone numbers start with number +91 will be displayed in the field. | email, formula, link, lookup, phone number, rollup, text, URL |
ends with | The Ends With condition display records that end with a certain value. For example, if you want to display emails that end with the letter 'a' alone, you can use this filter option. What happens is only email records that end with the letter 'a' will be displayed on the grid. | email, formula, link, lookup, phone number, rollup, text, URL |
has any of | This condition is applicable for multiselect field type. Say for example you have created three options namely 'Apple', 'Orange' 'Lemon'. Now when you select has any of 'Apple' only the records that have the value 'Apple' will be displayed. | multiselect |
has none of | This condition is applicable for multiselect field type. Say for example you have created three options namely 'Apple', 'Orange' 'Lemon'. Now when you select the condition "has none of" 'Orange', the records that do not have 'Orange' in them will alone be displayed. | multiselect |
has all of | This condition is applicable for multiselect field type. Say for example you have created three options namely 'Samsung', 'Onida', and 'Bluestar'. You now choose the condition as "has all of" and value as 'Samsung'. All the records that have selected 'Samsung' will be displayed. | multiselect |
