Color

Zoho Tables lets you color-code your records with your choice of color to help you quickly identify indicative differences between records.


Record Coloring can be enabled in two ways:

  • By Single Select Field
  • By Condition





Take a look at how Record Coloring looks in different Views of Zoho Table:

Grid View

In a grid view, record colors display as colored vertical lines on the far left of the record header as part of the primary field.



The color code will also appear on the primary field ID when you expand the records.



Gallery & Kanban View

In the Gallery & Kanban View, the record coloring displays as a fold icon on the top right corner of the cards.

Calendar View

In the Calendar View, the events in dates are color-coded depending on the Single Select Field you select or the condition that is set.




Record Coloring By Single Select Field

This option will be enabled when you have at least one Single Select Field configured in your table & records will be colored according to the color in the single select field. You can also change the colors as you wish.

  1. From the view bar, click the Color option.
  2. Select the option Single Select Field to color records based on the color in the single select field.
  3. In the case of multiple single select fields, click the drop-down and choose the one of your preference. By default, it chooses the first single select field in the table.
  4. To change the color of the records, click the down arrow on the single select options
  5. Choose the desired color from the color palette
  6. To reset all your selections, click Clear all and configure the coloring from scratch. 



Record Coloring By Condition

The conditional coloring will color your records based on a set of conditions you configure. Records that comply with those conditions will automatically be assigned the specified color. You can set single or multiple conditions for coloring records.

  1. From the view bar, click the Color option.
  2. Select the Condition option. 
  3. The condition dialog box shows up with 3 selection menus


Field - You can choose the field from the drop-down to which the condition would be applied

Condition - The condition drop-down box consists of various conditions you can set for your field. They are listed below:

  • contains
  • does not contain 
  • equals 
  • not equals 
  • starts with 
  • ends with 
  • is empty 
  • is not empty 


Value: This option allows us to enter the value of the condition. Depending on this value, the data gets filtered and color-coded.

Conditional Group

If you wish to add additional conditions to the same color, click ADD CONDITION

Adding more conditions to the same color will form a conditional group, which is a group of conditions connected through a combination of "AND" or "OR" or "AND/OR" conditions.



Choosing a color for your conditions

Click on the colored icon with the down arrow button on a set of conditions that open the color palette, from which you can choose your desired color for a set of conditions.




Adding new color formats

Using the color palette, you can save different color conditions. To create all new conditions, click + Add color format at the bottom of the dialog box.



Duplicating a color format

  1. To duplicate a condition along with its color format, click on the three-dot icon next to the set of conditions.
  2. Click Duplicate



Set fallback color

To give a standard color for the remaining records that do not match any of the color format conditions,
  1. Click on the Set fallback color at the bottom of the dialog box
  2. Pick a color 'For rest of the records'
