Customizing Notes Module Preferences

In this article, we'll see how you can customize the Notes module for an intuitive note-taking experience.

Customizing Notes List

There are two ways in which you can view the notes you've created in the Notes module.

  • List View: Displays the note cards in a list and opens the note in selection side by side. 
  • Grid View: Displays the note cards in a grid and opens the note in the grid itself. 

To choose between List or Grid Views:

  1. Click the More Options  icon in the top-right corner of the notes listing. 
  2. Select the preferred view from the menu list

Sorting Notes List

You can sort the listed notes according to the ascending or descending order of the created or modified dates. To do so:

  1. Click the Sort  icon.
  2. Select the desired option from the menu list. 

Customizing Notes Editor

You can adjust the font size, line width, and line height of the content you set in the Notes Editor. To do so:

  1. Open any note. 
  2. Click the Preferences icon. 
  3. Increase or decrease the font size, line width, and line height using the slider. 
  4. Click the Reset to Defaults button to reset the editor preferences. 

Note: The changes will reflect across all of your existing notes and the ones you create newly. 

Expanding or Shrinking Notes

You can expand or shrink the Notes Editor according to your convenience while taking notes.

  1. Click the Expand  icon in the top-left corner of the Notes Editor to expand the note to the app's full-screen.  
  2. Click the Shrink  icon in the top-left corner of the Notes Editor to shrink the note back to the original List or Grid View. 

Popping Out Notes in New Window

To pop out a note in a new window from the List View:

  1. Right-click the note you want to pop out from the notes listing. 
  2. Select Pop Out from the menu list

Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Open the note you want to pop out. 
  2. Click the More Options  icon in the top-right corner of the Notes Editor.
  3. Select Pop Out from the menu list.

To pop out a note in a new window from the Grid View:

  1. Click open or hover over the note you want to pop out.
  2. Click the More Options  icon in the top-right corner of the Notes Editor
  3. Select Pop Out from the menu list

Sticking Notes

You can stick a note to use for note-taking even when Trident is closed. To stick a note from the List View:

  1. Right-click the note you want to stick from the notes listing. 
  2. Select Sticky Note from the menu list

Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Open the note you want to stick.
  2. Click the More Options  icon in the top-right corner of the Notes Editor
  3. Select Sticky Note from the menu list

To stick a note from the Grid View:

  1. Click open or hover over the note you want to stick.
  2. Click the More Options  icon in the top-right corner of the Notes Editor
  3. Select Sticky Note from the menu list

You can further shrink the sticky notes to reduce the screen space it takes. To do so:

  1. Hover over the top of the sticky note.
  2. Click the Shrink  icon to minimize the Notes Editor. 
  3. Click the Expand  icon to maximize the Notes Editor. 

Note: You can also resize the sticky note.

Pinning Notes

You can pin your sticky notes to access them even while working on other applications. To pin a sticky note:

  1. Hover over the top of the sticky note. 
  2. Click the Pin  icon in the top-left corner. 
  3. To unpin the note, click the Pin  icon again. 

Note: You can only pin your sticky notes.

Adjusting Notes Opacity

While working with a sticky and/or pinned notes, you can adjust the note's opacity. To do so:

  1. Hover over the top of the sticky note.
  2. Adjust the Slider in the top-right corner to increase or decrease the opacity.

Trident gives you the following keyboard shortcuts for the Notes module.
