Add additional language for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in Search

OCR feature in WorkDrive enables searching of text within image files and document files with pictures in them.

English is the default OCR search language. However, WorkDrive allows the Team Admin to select additional OCR language from the Admin Console. You can check all the supported languages for OCR in Search here.

To set an additional OCR language in WorkDrive Admin Console:

Click Admin Console in the bottom-left corner of your WorkDrive account.
The Admin Console page will open in a new tab. Dashboard will be selected by default.
Click Settings in the left panel. The Profile settings will be displayed by default.
Select Content.
In the Add an additional OCR Search language section, click on the select box.
In the dropdown list, select the language or script you want. It will be added as the additional OCR search language.

If you have a different profile language other than English as your Zoho Account settings, the OCR search will be enabled in English, your profile language, and the additional language the Admin has chosen.

For example, if you have set Spanish as your profile language for both web and mobile applications, then you can perform the OCR search in English, Spanish, and the additional language set by Admin.

Important:

Only the new files uploaded after setting the additional OCR language settings can be located through the OCR search.
If you change your profile language for your Zoho Account, only the newly uploaded files after this change can be located through the OCR search.
Files uploaded via WorkDrive Desktop Sync apps (WorkDrive Sync and WorkDrive TrueSync) will take more time to reflect in OCR results compared to the files uploaded via mobile and web apps.

Here are the supported OCR search formats:

Supported languages for text extraction: 110 (check out all the supported languages here)
Supported image formats - jpeg, png, jpg, tiff, tif, bmp
Supported document formats - pdf, docx, doc, pptx, ppt
