Prerequisites to get a rebranded iOS app for your community

Overview

In Zoho CommunitySpaces, you can create a rebranded app for your community. This guide discusses the prerequisites required to publish your rebranded iOS app in the App Store.
 

Logo and branding requirements  

This comprises of essential details like the app name and icon, ensuring your app is easily identifiable and aligned with your brand.

App logo  
Provide PNG images in the specified sizes for iOS devices and the App Store.
    • iPhone and iPad sizes (in pixels):
      40x40, 58x58, 60x60, 76x76, 80x80, 87x87, 114x114, 120x120, 128x128, 136x136, 152x152, 167x167, 180x180, 192x192
    • App Store size (in pixels):
      1024x1024

Splash screen logo  

The splash screen is the initial screen users see when the app is launched. Submit a transparent PNG image.

Color codes  

Share the exact color codes used in the app to maintain consistent branding. Refer to the provided sample screen at the end of the document for better understanding.
 

Zoho admin account authorization  

  1. Click Add Client and select Mobile-based Applications
  2. Provide the following details:
    1. Client name- Use the app name
    2. Homepage URL- Example: (https://community.zylker.com/)
    3. Redirect URL- Use the format <appname>://
      example, (zylkercommunity//)
  3. Click Create to generate the Client ID and Client Secret
  4. Share the generated Client ID and Client Secret with the support team

 

Steps to get push notification and provisioning certificates  :

  1. Sign up for an Apple Developer Account (if not already registered).
  2. Follow the steps on the Apple Developer site to create the following:
    • Group ID:
      • Format- group.<communityname>.<appname> (e.g., group.zylker.community)
    • App ID:
      • Format- com.<communityname>.<appname> (e.g., com.zylker.community)
  1. Configure app ID:
    • Link the created App Group with the App ID
    • Enable Push Notifications and configure the Production SSL certificate
    • Enable Associated Domains
  1. Mobile Provision Certificate:
    • Create a mobile provision certificate for the created App Bundle ID
  1. Distribution Certificate (p12):
    • Create the Distribution p12 key for your App ID
Share the above details with the Zoho Support team.

 

Steps to register for push notification in Zoho server

  • Access your Zoho CommunitySpaces app using a host account
  • Navigate to Settings > Customization > Register Push Notification
  • Choose the Platform as iOS, upload the p12 generated in AppStore using the step mentioned above, and Enter p12 password
  • Give the iOS package name and click Register


Notes

After registration, push notifications will no longer be received in the Zoho CommunitySpaces app. They will only be available in the rebranded apps.

 

Submit your rebranded app for approval on the App Store

  1. Select your app from the dashboard
  2. Under the App Store tab, click the + button near iOS App
  3. Update the version number to 1.2
  4. Update the What’s New content to reflect the changes in version 1.2
  5. Under App Review Information, verify the sign-in credentials provided for testing the app
  6. Under Build, click on the + icon and select the build version 1.2
  7. Save the changes and submit the app for review
