An instance specific datapoint is created and available exclusively to a particular device, asset or location.

All Datapoint operations require necessary permissions. Refer User Profiles document for more details.

Note: Model based widgets/reports will not include instance specific datapoints.

To add an instance-specific datapoint, you must first enable the corresponding option that allows the creation of such datapoints.

To enable instance specific datapoint addition,

1. Access the Developer Application.
2. Select Asset or Devices or Location  in the left pane based on the model to which you want to import the datapoint template. For this illustration, Device is selected.
3. Click the model name for which you wish to enable the option. For this illustration, the device model: Home Gateway is selected.
   
   
   
   
4. Scroll down and select Model Settings in the left pane.
   
   
   
   
5. Toggle ON in instance specific datapoint option and click Save.
   
   
   

Instance specific datapoint addition for the model (eg., Home Gateway) is now enabled.

With the instance-specific datapoint addition now enabled for the model, you can create instance-specific datapoints for any instance derived from the model.

To create a instance specific datapoint,

1. Access the End Application.
2. Select Devices > Devices in the left pane.You can select Assets to add a datapoint template to an asset or Location to add a datapoint template to a location.
   
   
   
   
3. Click the name of the instance for which you want to add the instance specific datapoint.For this illustration the device: My RPi is selected.
   

   
   

   
   

   
   

   Note: Ensure the device is based on the model for which the option was enabled.
4. Select Actions > Datapoint configuration.
   
   
   
   
5. Click Add Datapoint.
   
   
   
   
6. Select Instance Specific as the Creation Type and click Proceed.
   
   
   
   
7. Select the Datapoint Type: Realtime or Scheduled KPI. For this illustration "Realtime" is selected.
   
   
   
   
8. Provide the required values in the corresponding fields. For this illustration, a datapoint: Room Humidity is added.
