What are roles?

You can group users into roles to give distinct access permissions for various features in Zoho Cliq. As an admin, you can add roles, add users to a particular role, enable permissions based on the role type, edit a role, duplicate a role and delete role.
To view the different roles in Cliq, do the following:
  1. Go to Admin Panel and select Roles under Users & Profiles.
  2. You will find the list of all the roles you have created.
You can allow users of a particular role to be able to perform only configurations that is required for their role and restrict other permissions.
Examples:
Managers - This role consists of leadership staff. You can assign the role type as Cliq Admin access so that they can access the admin panel and configure permissions to users in the team.
Extension Developers - This role consists of people who manage other application integrations with your organization's Cliq account. Hence the permissions to access extensions can be disabled for all other roles and enabled only for this role.

Default roles
There are two roles that are default in an organization.
  1. Admin - All the Cliq admins are added to this role.
  2. Member - All the users in the organization except Cliq Admins are added to this role.

Note:

  1. When a new role is created and users are assigned to it, they will be moved from admins or members to the new role that you have assigned. If the created role is deleted then the user will be moved back to the members role.

  2. You can specify the role type as Cliq admin access or member while creating roles to give them the respective access.

  3. Policies override roles in Zoho Cliq. So policies take precedence in implementation over role-specific permissions.
    Example: If a policy that says 'Allow users to create organization level channel without approval' is disabled, then that permission will be implemented in Cliq even if creating organization channels is enabled for all roles. A user will be able to create organization level channels only on approval.

  4. ​Default roles (Admin and Members) are available in the free version of Cliq. Creating custom roles is available only in the paid version of Zoho Cliq.
