1. Overview

Accessibility refers to designing digital products so that everyone, including people with disabilities, can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with them effectively. It ensures that visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive differences do not prevent users from accessing digital services. Accessibility is essential because it promotes inclusivity and independence, improves usability for everyone, and helps businesses meet global compliance standards. In Zoho Bookings, accessibility features are built to support both admin users and customers, ensuring a seamless experience for all.
  1. For admin users: The product is designed to be barrier-free, featuring logical tab order, visible focus indicators, clear error messages, keyboard shortcuts, high-contrast themes, and screen reader compatibility. These enable efficient management of schedules, event types, and appointments without needing a mouse.

  2. For customers: Booking pages support assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard navigation, allowing customers to make appointments confidently and independently.
By embedding accessibility principles, Zoho Bookings enhances clarity, usability, and overall user experience for everyone.

2. WCAG compliance

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is an international standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to make web content more usable for people with different abilities. Zoho Bookings now complies with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, ensuring the application is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. This alignment reflects our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility best practices.

4. Accessibility features in Zoho Bookings

Zoho Bookings includes multiple accessibility features to make navigation, interaction, and data management simple and independent:

  • Screen reader support: Compatible with standard screen readers such as VoiceOver (Mac), TalkBack (Android), Narrator, JAWS, and NVDA. When activated, these tools read out page elements like buttons, labels, appointment details allowing full keyboard-based navigation. To activate the screen reader on your system: Windows:Ctrl + F5
    macOS:Cmd + F5

  • Quick access navigation: Enables users to navigate between sections using keyboard shortcuts. Activate with Ctrl + (Windows) or Cmd + (macOS), use Tab / Shift + Tab to move between options, and Enter to select. Press Esc to exit the current selection or menu.

  • RTL and LTR language support: The page automatically adjusts to Left-to-Right (LTR) or Right-to-Left (RTL) text orientation based on the chosen language, ensuring consistent readability across regions. For example, LTR applies to English or French, while RTL applies to Arabic or Hebrew. Users can change their preferred language of the booking page under the workspace bookings page settings.

  • High-contrast themes: Improves visibility and readability for users with visual impairments. Ensures better differentiation between text and page elements.

  • Error handling and instructions: Uses descriptive, text-based error messages and labels instead of relying solely on color cues, helping users understand and correct issues easily.

  • Keyboard accessibility: All key actions viewing appointments, opening booking details, updating schedules can be performed using TabShift + TabEnter, and Esc, ensuring smooth control without a mouse.

Together, these features make Zoho Bookings inclusive and user-friendly, ensuring clarity, usability, and independence for both admins and customers.
