Assign tasks and mark leads as 'High Priority' using the Workflow Rules

Scenario

Zylker Moments Inc is a travel company. Whenever a lead with “Trip Type as Adventure” is created, they wish to automate the following actions.

Assign a Task called "Prepare Adventure trip checklist" to a lead owner.
Automatically add a tag called: High legal priority to the lead.

Solution

Pre-requisite

First, you must create a Custom Field called “Trip Type”. To do this:

Go to Setup > Customization > Modules and Fields.
Select the Leads module/ Standard Layout.
Drag and drop a Picklist field type into the layout.
In the Picklist Properties popup, enter the Field label as “Trip Type”.
Add the following picklist values.

a) Adventure

b) Family trip

c) Solo travel

d) Business trip

e) Education tour
Click Done.
Save layout.

Workflow Rule

Go to Setup > Automation > Workflow Rules.

Click Create Rule.
In the Create New Rule popup,

a) Choose the module: Leads

b) Rule Name: Adventure Trip actions

c) Description: Automated actions for adventure trips.
In the When section, choose On a record action: Create
Click Next .
In the Condition 1 section, enter the following condition:

a. Trip Type is Adventure
Choose Instant Action: Task.
Create New Task: Prepare Adventure Trip Checklist.
Click +Action.
Choose Tags.
Add tag: High legal priority.
Click Save .

Create. Review. Publish.
