Create Task Dependencies in Project Templates

Setting dependency between tasks is the best way to track their progress. You will be able to set dependency between tasks of the same project in Project Templates . Know more about task dependency

Create Task Dependency in Project Template

  1. Navigate to Projects in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click Project Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a template and click Access Project Template.
  4. Select Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  5. Select Gantt from the view drop-down.
  6. Navigate to the Gantt chart and add dependencies to the task or subtask by drawing a connection between the ends of two task or subtask bars.
  7. Toggle between the Predecessors tab and the Successors tab, then click Add Predecessor or Add Successor.
  8. Enter the task name you want to link into the Select Tasks field.
  9. Click Set Dependency to save.

Hold down the 'ALT' key, then drag a line to the target task to view a pop-up where the dependency type and time lag can be modified.

View Task Dependency  

  1. Navigate to Projects in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click Project Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a template and click Access Project.
  4. Select Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  5. Select Gantt from the view drop-down.
  6. The Gantt is partitioned to showcase the Unscheduled Tasks explicitly while the tasks with start (and/or) end dates are found in the calendar view.
  7. Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on a Gantt bar.
  8. Select either the Predecessor or Successor column.
  9. Select the project and then enter the task ID to search.
  10. Click the task to set the predecessor.
  11. Click and drag a task between a set of tasks to reorder. Also, drag and place the task over another task to make it a sub task.

Modify Task Dependency Type 

  1. Navigate to Projects in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click Project Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a template and click Access Project.
  4. Select Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  5. Select Gantt in the view drop-down.
  6. Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on a Gantt bar.
  7. Click on the Dependency Type cell.
  8. Select the required dependency type from the drop-down. Know more about types of dependency.

Remove Task Dependency 

  1. Navigate to Projects in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click Project Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a template and click Access Project.
  4. Select Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  5. Select Gantt in the view drop-down.
  6. Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on a Gantt bar.
  7. Click   and select  Unlink to remove dependency between the corresponding tasks.   

Set Lag or Lead Using Task Gantt

Lag is the time gap between the predecessor and successor tasks. If the lag value is negative, it is known as lead time. Learn when to use lead and lag values.

  1. Navigate to Projects in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click Project Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a template and click Access Project.
  4. Select Tasks in the top navigation panel.
  5. Select Gantt in the view drop-down.
  6. Navigate to the Gantt chart and click on a Gantt bar.
  7. Enter the lag or lead value in hours or days.
