Accessibility in Live Survey Forms
Accessibility is designing and developing products that cater to the diverse needs of the population demographics. For example, in general, the majority of the products and services do not cater to individuals with physical disabilities like those who have visual impairments, auditory impairments, or a locomotor disability.
Accessibility ensures that all such individuals have an equal chance to access and engage, eliminating obstacles that could prevent them from participating. It includes features and functions designed to accommodate a wide variety of users with different needs. For example, ramps, elevators, and wider doorways in buildings help people with mobility impairments move through spaces with ease. However, it's not just limited to individuals with disabilities, but also to elder people and people with temporary impairments.
What is Digital Accessibility
Out of the 6 billion people in the world today, around 1.6 billion people have a disability. This represents 16% of the world population, or 1 in 6 people. A significant portion of this contributes to the workforce, and it is essential to ensure they work in an inclusive environment and their needs are taken care of. Digital Accessibility is about creating an inclusive environment, ensuring anyone with internet can access and interact with your content, regardless of their abilities.
Why do we need Accessible Surveys
Building accessible surveys that are usable by individuals with disabilities and those using assistive technologies ensures your surveys can be attended by everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. It gives an equal opportunity to participate in research, give feedback, and share their opinions. In addition, you can also create surveys that cater specially to those with special requirements and empower them.
How to make a survey accessible in Zoho Survey
Navigate to Builder >Settings >Preferences.
In Settings, navigate to Preferences.
Under Compliance, enable Advanced Accessibility.

The Live Survey accessibility feature is available in all plans of Zoho Survey
Points to Note
For Apple devices, like the Mac and iPhone, the built-in Voiceover app can be used
To enable Voiceover in Mac:
- Press Command + F5 and the Voiceover app will appear
To enable VoiceOver on iOS:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Tap VoiceOver and toggle it on.
To enable voice-over for Windows, NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) Reader should be downloaded and installed.
To enable voice-over for Linux, the Orca app should be downloaded and installed.
To enable voice over for Android, the Talkback app should be downloaded and installed.
