This action allows you to send a message in Zoho Cliq to specific chats and channels when the trigger event occurs to execute the automation.

 

Set up the trigger

1. Choose the trigger type (when a new record is added, when a record is updated, etc.).

2. Choose the table where the trigger should occur.

3. Define specific conditions if required.

 

Add the action

1. Click + Add Actions.

2. Choose the Send Zoho Cliq Message action from the list.

Set up the Zoho Cliq integration

To send messages via Zoho Cliq:

Click Install and Subscribe to:

  • Install the Zoho Tables extension in Zoho Cliq.

  • Subscribe to the Zoho Tables bot. 

Choose chats or channels

Choose the chat or channel you want the bot to send messages to.

  • You may only be able to add bots to certain channels that you have access to.

  • If you lack permission to add the bot to a channel, contact the channel admin for access.

Note: If you see any unfamiliar chats or channels, it's likely because a collaborator in your base belongs to a different organization.

Compose the message

  • In the Message box, type the content you want the bot to send.

  • You can include dynamic data in the message, such as:

    • Trigger fields (e.g., name, status, date).

    • Linked or referenced records from the table. 

Finalize and activate

Once everything is configured:

1. Review the automation setup.

2. Click Save and enable the automation.

 

How it works

From now on, whenever the configured trigger is initiated, the Zoho Tables bot will automatically send your customized message to the chosen Zoho Cliq chat or channel.


 

Limitations

  • Find and Include Records:

    • You can include a maximum of 30 records, including the header.

    • If the data you include in the message exceeds 10,000 characters, it won't be sent. This can happen if the fields have a lot of text or a very long name.

  • If the person who added users or channels to the Zoho Cliq action loses access to the base, the corresponding users or channels will stop receiving messages.

  • External channels will not be listed or supported. (Due to Zoho Cliq team restrictions, bots cannot send messages to external channels.)

  • Bots cannot be added to a channel if that channel already has 10 bots.
