Overview
By default, Zoho Writer uses your primary email address (the one that you used to log in) to send emails during a mail merge. If you would like to send emails from a different email address, such as a secondary email or a group alias, you can change the "From" address during merge setup.
Prerequisites
Make sure you have:
- Added and verified a secondary email address in your Zoho account
(OR) - Created a group alias in Zoho Mail with "Send As" permission
- Selected the Merge & send via email option while setting up mail merge in Zoho Writer
Steps
- Go to Zoho Accounts.
- Go to Profile > Email Address, and click Add Email.
- Enter your secondary email address or the group email alias, and complete the verification process using the link sent to your email address. If you don't have a group alias, go to Zoho Mail Groups to create one.
- Open the desired merge template, go to the Automate tab > Merge Output Settings, and select Merge & send via email.
- In the Email Merged Document window, click the dropdown arrow in the From address field, and select the secondary email address or the email alias.
- Configure the other email settings, and click Save.
Troubleshooting
Error/Symptom: : I've selected my e-mail as the sender, but the recipient gets the email from Writer notification@zohowriter.com.
Possible Cause: DKIM records have not been configured for your domain in Zoho Writer, so the system defaults to sending emails from Zoho Writer’s notification address.
Solution: To send emails from your own email address, you need to
configure DKIM records with Writer. Kindly check the information on
this page and let us know if there is any further assistance required.
Error/Symptom: The secondary email or group alias isn’t showing in the From address list
Possible cause: This could be because your secondary email address hasn't been added to your Zoho Account settings.
Solution: Ensure you add and confirm your secondary email address in your Profile in Zoho Account settings.
Error/Symptom: Group alias is missing
Possible cause: This could happen if you don't have the necessary permissions for the group, or if it is not part of the same Zoho organization.
Solution: Confirm that the group alias is part of the same Zoho organization and verify that you have the necessary permissions to use the group email alias to send emails.
Error/Symptom: I am not able to set my secondary email address or group email alias created in GMail or Outloook in the From address list in Writer merge templates
Possible Cause: You cannot use non-Zoho Mail email address in Writer's merge templates.
Solution: Create a secondary email address or a group email alias in Zoho Mail and use it in the Writer merge template.
