Report Of The Week - How Do I Create A Combination Chart?
Combination chart as the name suggests is a combination of bar and line charts. This chart is a great pick for visualization when you have a mixed data series. You can also use it to represent a complementary data series along with the main data.
Example:
In our example, we are going to create a combination chart to plot the Sales vs Profit as shown below.
Steps to create a Combination Chart:
In order to create this report, we will be using the sample Sales data.
Let us now see how to create the chart.
Step 1: Open the Sales table and click New > New Chart View
Step 2: Drag and drop the following columns in the respective shelves.
- X axis Shelf: Date (select Month )
- Y axis Shelf: Sales, Profit
Step 3: Select the option " Click here to Generate Graph ". The generated chart by default will be a line chart.
You will have to change it to a combination chart by clicking the Combination Chart icon as highlighted in the below snapshot.
The generated Combination Chart will look as shown below.
In the above report, Sales is plotted as a bar chart and Profit is plotted as a line. You can change this option from the Settings tab.
To change the combination options for the series (columns),
- Click the Settings button.
- In the Settings page that opens, select the Combination tab.
- Select the chart type for each series and click Apply .
