Themes

Play around with your survey's fonts, background, and colors. With our themes, you can change the look and feel as much as you like. Align it with your brand's image to give it a professional look. You can find your current theme on navigating to the Themes tab. You can edit it to suit your style.

Custom Theme

To create a new custom theme:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. With any paid Zoho Survey plan, you can design your theme's entire appearance. To create a new customized theme, click the Add icon. 


  3. You can also do this from the Customizable tab. Hover over a customizable theme and click the Edit icon. All the themes in the Customizable tab are fully editable.


My Theme

To apply an existing theme to your survey:

My Themes contain a collection of all the themes you've applied or created. You can apply themes you've created in previous surveys to maintain consistency, or customize them for a fresh look.

To preview your survey's theme:

Hover over the theme and select the Preview option. You can also preview it by clicking the current theme. 

To create or edit a theme: 

  1. Click Customize Basic Theme or the Edit icon to get to the theme editor. 

  2. The left pane will display the customizable categories: General, Background, Header, Body, and Footer. Click any category to edit it. 

To duplicate a theme:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Hover over the theme you want to duplicate in the My Themes section.
  3. Click the duplicate icon.

  4. Make any necessary change in the Theme name, then click Create.

Customization

To set common customizations across your survey:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon. The General tab on the left pane will be selected by default. Use the options in this tab to set common customizations across your survey.

To set a common color scheme across your survey:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click Edit or Customize Basic Theme.
  3. Click the General tab on the left pane.
  4. Select a color scheme.
  5. Click Save and Apply.

To select a common font for your survey:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the General tab in the left pane.
  4. Select a style from the Font section.
  5. Click Save and Apply.

To adjust the survey form's background opacity:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the General tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll to the Effects section.
  5. Click and drag the Form opacity slider to adjust the background opacity.
  6. Click Save and Apply.


To adjust the survey form's corners:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the General tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll to the Effects section.
  5. Click and drag the Rounded form corners slider to adjust the roundness of the form's corners.
  6. Click Save and Apply.

To adjust the survey form's shadow:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the General tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll to the Effects section.
  5. Click and drag the sliders to adjust the shadow effect.
  6. Click Save and Apply.

To style your survey form's border patterns:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the General tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down and enable the Form border knob to adjust the style, width, and color of the border.
  5. Select a border style.
  6. Click and drag the slider to adjust the form width.
  7. Click the color grid to choose a color.
  8. Click Save and Apply.

To select your survey form's size:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the General tab on the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Form size section.
  5. Select Standard or Large.
  6. Click Save and Apply.


Background

To customize your survey's background:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Background tab on the left pane. Use the options in this tab to customize your background.
  4. Click Save and Apply.

To upload an image to your survey's background: 

  1. Click the Themes tab. 
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon. 
  3. Click the Background tab on the left pane. 
  4. Click Image and select Browse.

    1. From image gallery - You can drag and drop the image in the box, or click to upload images from your gallery.   
          
    2. From URL - Type in or copy/paste the web link of the image in the Image URL box. The image should be in JPEG or PNG format with a resolution of 250px x 85px. If you haven't upgraded to our paid plans, the Zoho Survey logo will be added to your survey, by default. As part of our branding, we include the Zoho logo in the header of all free plan surveys. You can remove this and add a custom logo if you have a paid plan  
  5. To finalize the image selection, click Confirm.   
  6. Click Save and Apply.

To choose a pattern for your survey's background:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Background tab on the left pane.
  4. Click Pattern.
  5. Select your preferred pattern. You can preview it in the form on the right.
  6. Click the color grid and select a background pattern color. 
  7. Click Save and Apply.
 

To customize your survey's header:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Header tab on the left pane. Use the options in this tab to customize your header.
  4. Click Save and Apply.

To align your survey's header (logo and title):

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Header tab.
  4. Select an alignment, left, middle, or right, for your survey's logo and title.
  5. Click Save and Apply.

To upload a header background image:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Header tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Background section.
  5. Click Browse.
  6. Upload an image from your gallery or enter a URL to add an image from the web. You can also use the color grid to select a single color as your background.
  7. Click Confirm.
  8. Click Save and Apply.

To add a logo or edit its appearance:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Header tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Logo section.
  5. Click the switch to display or hide the survey's logo. The logo section can only be enabled if a logo has been uploaded in Settings.
  6. Click and drag the slider to adjust the logo's size.
  7. Click Save and Apply.

To add a title or edit its appearance:

  1. Click the Themes tab. 
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon. 
  3. Click the Header tab. 
  4. Scroll down to the Display title section. 
  5. Click the switch to display or hide your survey's title. 
  6. Select a font. 
  7. Click and drag the slider to adjust the size of the title's font. 
  8. Click the color grid to choose a font color. 
  9. Click Save and Apply.

To add a border to separate the survey's header and body:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Click the Header tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Header divider section.
  5. Turn on the Header divider knob.
  6. Select a style.
  7. Click and drag the slider to adjust the width.
  8. Click the color grid to choose the border's color.
  9. Click Save and Apply.


Body

To customize your survey's body:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab on the left pane. Use the options in this tab to customize your body.
  4. Click Save and Apply.

To select a color for the body's background:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab on the left pane.
  4. Click the color grid, under Body background color, to choose a color.
  5. Click Save and Apply.

To customize the page description:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab on the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Page description section. Page description customization options will only appear when you've added one to any of your pages.
  5. Click the color grid to choose a color for the page description.
  6. Choose left, center, or right alignment for your page description.

To add a question divider:

  1. Click the Themes tab. 
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon. 
  3. Select the Body tab on the left pane. 
  4. Scroll down to the Question divider section. 
  5. Click the switch to enable or disable question dividers. 
  6. Select a style.
  7. Click and drag the slider to adjust the divider's width.
  8. Click the color grid to choose the divider's color.

To edit the typography for questions and answers:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Font section.
  5. Click Question or Answer to edit the respective fields.
  6. Select the font.
  7. Click and drag the slider to choose the font size.
  8. Click the color grid to choose the font color.

To customize the appearance of answer fields (choice fields, on hover, selection):

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Fields section.
  5. Select colors for the different elements of the answer field. You can change the color of the background, border, hover border, selected field background, and selection tick.
  6. Click the color grid for each option to choose your preferred color.

To customize the appearance of text boxes:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Text boxes section.
  5. Click and drag the slider to adjust border width.
  6. Click and drag the slider to adjust the roundness of the text boxes' corners.
  7. Click the color grid to select the background color.
  8. Click the second color grid to choose the font color.

To edit the button's font, size, alignment, and border thickness:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Button section.
  5. Click Typo.
  6. Select a font.
  7. Click and drag the slider to choose the font size.
  8. Select an alignment.
  9. Click and drag the slider to adjust border thickness.
  10. Click Save and Apply.

To edit the Previous, Next, and Submit buttons' background color and opacity, font color, and border color:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Body tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Button section.
  5. Select Previous, Next, or Submit to customize the respective buttons. The previous and next navigation button options will only turn up if there are more than one pages in the survey.
  6. Click the color grid to choose a background color.
  7. Click and drag the slider to adjust the background opacity.
  8. Click the color grid to choose a font color.
  9. Click the color grid to choose the border color.
  10. Click Save and Apply

  3. Select the Footer tab on the left pane. Use the options in this tab to customize your footer.

To select a color for your survey footer’s background:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Footer tab on the left pane.
  4. Click the Footer background color grid, in the Background section, to choose a background footer color.

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon.
  3. Select the Footer tab in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down to the Font section.
  5. Select a font for the footer text.
  6. Click the color grid to choose a font color.
  7. Click Save and Apply.

  1. Click the Themes tab. 
  2. Click the Edit or Customize Basic Theme icon. 
  3. Select the Footer tab on the left pane. 
  4. Scroll down to the Footer divider section. 
  5. Click the Footer divider knob to enable and disable the footer divider. 
  6. Select a style. 
  7. Click and drag the slider to adjust the border's width. 
  8. Click the color grid for the border's color. 
  9. Click Save and Apply.


Save and Delete

To save your theme settings:

  1. Click the Save and Apply button at the bottom of the left panel after you've created your theme.
  2. Enter a name for the theme. It will be saved in My Themes. If you don't want to preserve your changes, click Reset.

To delete a theme:

  1. Click the Themes tab.
  2. Click My Themes, and hover over the theme you want to delete.
  3. Click the Delete icon. If you delete a theme that is currently applied to your survey, the default theme will apply instead.
