Zoho WorkDrive allows reviewers to give feedback and exchange ideas on shared files using comments.
To add a comment
- Select a file and click the More actions icon
on the top action bar.

Select Add Comment from the dropdown. Alternatively, you can right-click the file and select Add Comment.
A preview of the file with the comments section will open.
- Type your comment. To tag a team member, type @ followed by their name.
- Click Post.
Comments added inside Zoho office suite files (Writer, Sheet, and Show) will not be reflected in WorkDrive. Similarly, comments added in WorkDrive will not be reflected inside Zoho office suite files.
Annotations in WorkDrive
Using annotation, a user can add comments specific to any text or area and track them easily. Collaborators will be able to understand the comments easily with contextual suggestions and make changes or add replies more appropriately.
For PDFs
The annotation feature allows you to go to any particular page and add comments specific to any text or area on that page.
To annotate a text:
- Click on a PDF file to open. Alternatively, you can right-click on the file and select Open.
A preview of the PDF file will appear.
- Go to the required page and select the text you want to comment on. A popup menu will appear just above the selected text.
- Click on the
icon from the popup menu.
- Enter your comment.
- Click Post.
To annotate a specific area:
- Click and drag from one corner to the other to select the required part of the document inside a rectangular area.
- Enter your comment.
- Click Post.
For Images
The annotation feature allows you to add comments on any specific part of the image.
To annotate on an image file:
- Click on an image file to open. Alternatively, you can right-click on the file and select Open.
A preview of the image file will appear.
- Click and drag from one corner to the other to select the required part of the image inside a rectangular area.

- Enter your comment.
- Click Post.
For Videos
The video annotation feature allows you to go to any frame in the video and add comments with a corresponding timestamp.
To annotate on a video file:
- Click on a video file to open. Alternatively, you can right-click on the file and select Open.
A preview of the video file will open.
- Right-click on the video and select Comment on video's current time. The video will be paused and the current timestamp will be loaded into the comments tab.

- Enter your comment.
- Click Post.
Alternatively, you can add timestamps in the comment fields. To do this:
- Pause the video at a specific frame where you wish to add a comment.
- Click on the Comments icon in the right pane to access the Comments tab.
- Enter your comment and click on the Clock icon to add the video's corresponding timestamp.
- Click Post.
- The annotated comments with timestamps are highlighted with small yellow indicators on the video timeline. When you scrub/skip through the video, you can see the timestamp highlights with the corresponding user profile. Selecting a timestamp highlight will load the corresponding comment in the comments tab.

- When the comments get resolved, the indicators will be removed from the timeline.
- The video annotation feature is not supported in the full-screen preview mode.
Click the Comments icon
in the right pane, to view the comments.
You can perform the below actions for the comments:
Reply
You can reply to a comment in two ways:
- Hover over a comment and click Reply.
- Hover over a comment and click the Reply icon
to send a reply mentioning the name of the commenter.
Edit
- Hover over a comment and click the More actions
icon.
- Select Edit from the dropdown. Make the required changes and click Update.
- Only the owner of a comment can make changes to it.
- You cannot edit comments when a file is in the checked out (locked) state.
- Currently, annotations in comments cannot be edited.
Resolve
If you wish to close a comment, click Resolve at the top-right corner of any particular comment.
Reopen
- Click the dropdown at the top-right corner of the Comments tab.
- Select Resolved from the dropdown.
- Click Reopen at the top-right corner of any particular comment.
Delete
- Hover over a comment and click the More actions
icon.
- Select Delete. A confirmation dialog box will appear.
- Click DELETE in the confirmation dialog box.
Copy comment link
You can copy and share the link of any comment to access it directly using the link.
- Hover over a comment and click the More actions
icon.
- Select Copy Link. The link will be copied to your clipboard.
Currently, the annotation feature is not available in WorkDrive mobile apps. You can only view the annotated comments as generic comments.
