The program’s general settings can be accessed by clicking the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the product console and selecting General Settings.
This section includes three configuration options: Verification, Cookie Settings, and Attribution Settings.
Verification: Purchase Verification with Cooling Period
The Verify Purchases setting allows you to control when rewards (such as commissions and points) are granted for referral purchases. This is especially useful for businesses with return or refund policies.
How it works:
By enabling the Verify Purchases toggle and updating the settings, you can specify a cooling period (up to 100 days), a delay in days before rewards are processed. During this period, the purchase status is not immediately verified. Instead, the system waits for the cooling period to expire before checking if the purchase was successful.
Why use a cooling period?
Protect against returns or cancellations: If a customer returns a product or cancels an order within the cooling period, rewards will not be issued.
Ensure accurate reward distribution: Only confirmed, completed purchases after the cooling period are rewarded.
Align rewards with your business policies: Customize the length of the cooling period to match your return or refund timeframe.
Cookie Settings
Use this setting to display a cookie consent message to referrals when they first visit your website, and to customers when they opt into the loyalty program.
To enable the cookie banner:
Under the Cookie Settings tab, enable the Banner to set cookies toggle.
In the pop-up, enter the Consent Text to be displayed.
Click Submit.
In case of security, you can also set a cookie validity to limit its presence in the browser. Follow the steps below to enable it.
Under the same Cookie Settings tab, enable the Set cookie validity toggle.
In the pop-up, enter the number of days until which the cookie must be valid.
Click Submit.
Attribution Settings
This setting is specific to Zoho Commerce, Shopify, and Wix.This setting, shared by both the affiliate and loyalty programs, lets you decide whether to reward the first or last referrer for a successful task completion. By default, the toggle is off, and the most recent (last) referrer is rewarded for a signup or purchase.
If you prefer to reward the original referrer instead, enable the First Attribution toggle. When enabled, the first person who referred the customer will receive the reward for any successful action, such as a signup or purchase.
