All about extensions| Community | Zoho Developer

Extensions are installable plugins or add-ons that help enhance a product. With Zoho extensions, you can improve your existing Zoho products or integrate with third-party apps.

Why extensions?
Some in-product customizations are available for your Zoho account. However, there may be a time when these customizations need to be applied to multiple accounts or be more in-depth. That's where extensions come in.

Extensions assist you in developing the necessary customizations as an installable plugin. Installing an extension adds new functionalities to your Zoho product and expands its capabilities. An added benefit of extensions is their ability to be shared—many users can easily install the extension.

Building extensions
Zoho offers Zoho Developer, a platform that allows you to build different types of applications. Within this platform is Sigma, which is specifically designed for creating extensions for various Zoho products.

   

Publishing
Extensions aren't just for one person; they're often shareable, letting other users benefit from them, as well. Before sharing an extension, it will need to be published.

Depending on your business needs, you can publish the extension either privately or publicly.
  • If the extension was built for internal purposes or to be shared only with specific users, it can be published privately.
  • If the extension was developed with common functions and made for all Zoho users, it can be published publicly and listed in Zoho Marketplace.
Zoho Marketplace
Zoho Marketplace is an online business store that offers a wide range of applications to meet the needs of your business. Users can easily search for and use applications built for various Zoho products, including extensions, custom apps, and vertical solutions.

Extensions developed with Sigma can be published publicly and listed in Zoho Marketplace, making them available to all Zoho users. The extension developer can also choose to monetize their extension, generating profit from each installation.
