Even if we open 10-15 windows in still we are getting our accounts locked with error " For security reasons your account has been blocked as you have exceeded the maximum number of requests per minute that can originate from one account. "
Businesses heavily relies on multitasking or concurrent access to different parts of Zoho Books, such as invoicing, expense tracking, inventory management, and financial reporting, limiting the number of open windows can slow down employees' workflow. They may need to frequently close and reopen windows to access different functions, which can be time-consuming and reduce overall efficiency.
Users might become less productive as they spend time managing their open windows rather than focusing on their tasks. This can affect overall productivity and employee satisfaction.
Limiting open windows can make it challenging to compare data from different parts of the application simultaneously. For example, if you need to cross-reference sales data with purchase orders, you might need to constantly switch between windows, which can be cumbersome.
Businesses interacts with customers or clients using Zoho Books, having limited windows could affect response times and customer service quality. Quick access to customer information is crucial for addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
Employees might require additional training or experience a steeper learning curve if they need to adapt to the limitations imposed by the software. This could potentially lead to errors and mistakes during the transition period.
Employees may try to find workarounds to the limitations, such as opening multiple instances of the application or using different accounts simultaneously. This can lead to security and data integrity concerns.
Please remove all the limits on number of windows.
I also disagree that 300 is the upper limit for blocking the account. I opened 14 invoices in multiple windows in less than 1 minute and in the 8th one itself, the security message popped up.
This doesn't follow what you claim 300req/min. You have to check with your development team as it must be 8 requests per minute.
Please be consistent with the claim of 300 req/min lock.
We understand that you're trying to open in 14 different tabs only, however to perform an action like opening an invoice or editing the same, there will be multiple API calls involved, so it is dependent on the action your perform and the number of times you do it in a minute. Also, this error will not occur if this is tried by different users.
We hope this clarifies! If you have any further queries, please reach out to us. Happy to help.
This is a temporary block that will automatically clear after 30 minutes. If your organization exceeds the permitted number of actions within a certain time frame, such as API calls or concurrent tasks, access will be temporarily restricted. We understand this might be inconvenient, but it’s a necessary security measure and cannot be relaxed.
In relation to your query, as discussed in previous replies this is purely due to security reasons and will only occur if the same action is repeated multiple times within a specified time interval. Please elaborate on your scenario of using 10 tabs simultaneously so that we shall look into the same and assist further.
If you have any further queries, please reach out to us. Happy to help.
This is a nightmare feature when trying to complete and submit your annual accounts. We often open multiple tabs when doing final checks and are currently sitting waiting for this error to clear.
Can you please increase this limit beyond activity in line with an individual opening multiple tabs?
Same frustration here... I'm checking the accounting and have many transactions to adjust.. Why dont you let us user just sign out and in to deactivate the block? I dont want to wait for 30 min -.-
Got this error for the first time today after opening 30 tabs in Zoho Subscriptions. On one hand, I get the security measure. But surely there is a better way than a 30-minute block that can't be bypassed at all. Logging out and back in ought to be enough to signify that it's a legitimate user and remove the block. We're just sitting ducks until the block is cleared.
I agree with the OP, this is a SERIOUS problem. I can understand the need for security. I CANNOT understand the need to block and seriously harm your customers when they run into this issue. This needs to be addressed ASAP, and it can be done in a way that helps customers and still be secure:
Enhance the popup message.
This is the current text: "For security reasons your account has been blocked as you have exceeded the maximum number of requests per minute that can originate from one account."
This text at the minimum needs to add "this block will be cleared automatically after 30 minutes."
The text should include a link to a help article to assist customers in understanding what they did wrong. I had no idea that opening multiple of the same kind of tab quickly would trigger this issue. I would not be nearly so frustrated if I had understood the length of the block, how the block was triggered, and how I could avoid it in the future. Instead I had to google to find this thread and read the whole thing to discover the problem.
Use an incremental block timeout with a warning system.
If it blocked me for only 1 minute, and the message was improved as I suggest above, then I could read about how I caused the block the first time, while I was waiting for it to clear. If I was to do it a second time, then block me for 5 minutes. If I was to do it again, then 15, and 30. This way I have a fighting chance of learning how to prevent it and still not be blocked for an entire half hour every time!
Add the ability to clear the block by logging back in:
If the popup had an option to clear the block by re-authenticating, at least for the first time or two (with a warning that if we open too many tabs again we'll be locked out for longer), that would be immensely helpful and basically eliminate this entire thread and all our frustrations as customers, because we could solve the problem ourselves.
I mean, this isn't rocket science. These suggestions would make it much less frustrating for customers running into this issue, give them tools to solve it, and not compromise your security in any way. It would also be quite simple to implement some of these changes.
Please, make us love Zoho again, and give us tools and an experience that feels helpful, not harmful and frustrating! (Time is money. I have wasted at least $100 of my own time now trying to figure this issue out. It's just stupid.)
Also, I agree with everyone that says the limits should be higher. I wanted to open 11 tabs to compare and standardize the title of 11 item names and descriptions...I did it by command-clicking to open the additional tabs. That was enough to block me and give me 30 minutes to find this thread and write you a message.
I am doing an important taks and opened 16 windows from trnasactions in a certain ledger and now I am blocked. What the HELL. Now I ahve to wait 30 minutes, such pathtic waste of time.
I agree with Canter. There should be proper explanation in the text. PLUS the first lock should be for 1 minute etc with incremental locks.
