GDPR-related feature updates from Zoho Campaigns
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is fast approaching and it is time we rethink the way we do email marketing. This regulation gives the citizens of the European Union countries complete control over their personal data and urges organizations to value every piece of information they have about their customers. Whether it is data collection, storage, or usage—everything needs customer’s approval.
In addition to our double-opt-in sign-up forms, opt-out and update profile options, we have come up with a set of new features to help you get ready for GDPR.
1. Consent Campaigns:
If your subscriber list is built from attending events, roadshows, or through other networking opportunities, it is mandatory that you obtain the consent of your subscribers before sending them any promotional emails. Use consent campaigns to seek the permission of your subscribers, record who has given consent and who has not, and follow up based on that.

Deny option in confirmation emails:
A confirmation email goes out every time a user submits details through a sign-up form, and the user gets added to a mailing list upon confirmation. Earlier, we had only one link going with the email, which is the option to confirm the subscription. Now we have included an option to deny the subscription so users can deny when they think their data had been submitted without their knowledge.

List description gets mandatory:
GDPR is all about data privacy and it is important you keep your subscribers informed about how you know them and why you send them emails. To make this process simpler, we have now made list-description mandatory. Going forward, you will have to mention how you know the subscribers (source) while creating a mailing list, and this information gets automatically pulled when you check list-description box in your footer setup.

Privacy policy in all sign-up forms:
From now on, we will have a privacy note at the end of all the long sign-up forms by default. This will not only guarantee your subscribers that their data is completely confidential but also boost your credibility.
5.
One-click unsubscribe:
When a subscriber is no longer interested in hearing from you, they can instantly unsubscribe and remove themselves from your mailing lists, without having to go through a “sorry to see you go” routine.
That’s not all. Lot more interesting features are on their way. Watch this space in the coming weeks for more GDPR updates.
