Hello everyone,
We’re happy that more than a hundred thousand users rely on Zoho Social to schedule and publish their social updates.
However, we recently noticed a tiny percentage of our users misusing the publishing feature by publishing as many as 500 tweets in a single day from a single Twitter account. That's right. 500 tweets from one Twitter account within a 24-hour period.
This sort of usage pattern is unexpected and clearly falls into the category of misuse of our service. Users who misuse our service by publishing such a large volume of tweets would also end up spamming their followers on Twitter.
Twitter defines Spam as
"bulk or aggressive activity that attempts to manipulate or disrupt Twitter or the experience of users on Twitter to drive traffic or attention to unrelated accounts, products, services, or initiatives."
Twitter takes this seriously as they explicitly state their zero tolerance for spam in their
policies and guidelines.
It is also important to us that we keep social media free from spam and abusive content.
Starting this week, we’ve set a daily posting limit of 500 tweets to prevent any user from misusing our features and violating Twitter's guidelines. Please note that this limit only applies to individual Twitter accounts within a 24-hour period.
Most of our users would be unaffected by this change, as only a tiny percentage of our users have ever hit this limit.
According to Twitter, they may take one or more of the following enforcement actions for accounts that violate their
guidelines:
- Requiring you to delete prohibited content before you can again create new posts and interact with other Twitter users;
- Temporarily limiting your ability to create posts or interact with other Twitter users;
- Asking you to verify account ownership with a phone number or email address; or
- Permanently suspending your account(s).
As a social media management tool that lets you schedule and publish posts across social networks, it is important to us that you enjoy an uninterrupted product experience. We encourage you to promote a spam-free community on social media.
That's all from us.
