Select Boxes: Should be large!

While creating reports in Zoho Analytics, i find that using the "teeny-weeny" selection boxes for filters is a real pain. Click, click, click, click, check!, Click, click, click, ciick, click, click, click, click, check! Click, click,click...

See what I mean?  I honestly don't understand why so many interface designers continue to use teeny weeny boxes for selections.  It's as if someone is paying for the real estate!  It is a navigation annoyance.  This is particularly true if there are hundreds or thousands of items to select from.  Yes the search box is handy.  But I don't want to miss an item just because I spelled it wrong.

Please consider BLOWING UP the select box when it is highlighted.  Then, it can shrink again once the final selection is made.  BTW, the same issue is in SOs, Invoices, Expenses, etc.  If there is a selection box, blow it up so the user has some context.  Thanks :)
