Hello Zoho Assist Community!
This week, we’ll be focusing on improving the performance of your remote sessions and reducing data consumption. Let’s dive into the details of the Performance settings under Preferences and see how these adjustments can make a significant difference.
If you’ve ever experienced sluggish performance or high data usage during a remote session, you know how frustrating it can be. Imagine you’re working from a café with a slow internet connection, trying to connect to an older office computer. Every action you take feels delayed, and the connection is constantly lagging. By tweaking a few settings, you can significantly enhance performance and reduce data usage, making your remote work much smoother.
Disable Aero theme
Disabling the Aero theme can reduce the graphical processing load on older or less powerful machines. With simpler visuals, less data needs to be transmitted during remote sessions. This setting is particularly beneficial in scenarios where the remote computer has limited graphical capabilities, as it can make the session smoother and more responsive. To implement this:
Click the checkbox next to Disable Aero theme at remote computer during remote connection (for Windows only)
Disable wallpaper
Removing the wallpaper can also free up system resources, allowing for a smoother remote session. Without a wallpaper, the graphical data sent over the connection decreases, reducing bandwidth usage. This setting is helpful when working from locations with limited internet speed. To implement this:
Click the checkbox next to Disable wallpaper at remote computer during remote connection (for Windows and Mac)
Hide window content on drag
Preventing the remote system from rendering the content of windows as they are dragged can improve responsiveness, especially on systems with limited resources. By not transmitting window content while dragging, less data is sent over the network, further decreasing data consumption. This can be particularly useful if you frequently move windows around during your remote sessions. To implement this:
Click the checkbox next to Hide window content on drag (for Windows only)
Implementing these settings can make a noticeable difference in your remote work experience. Adjust them according to your needs and the capabilities of your remote setup for the best results. With these tweaks, you can enjoy a smoother, more responsive remote connection, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
