What's New in Zoho Inventory - April 2018

It's that time of the year when we can witness life rising from beneath the blistering ice and nature taking its most beautiful form, adding a lot of colour and joy around us. This spring, Zoho Inventory too is blooming with fresh features. Let's look at what's new.

1) Introducing Custom Functions

Step-up your automation game with Custom Functions -  a small block of code that executes specific instructions whenever a certain criteria is met. 

For instance, you offer a 10% discount on the total invoice amount whenever a payment is made before the due date. In this case, you can create a custom function in Zoho Inventory where you set the criteria to automatically detect when a payment is made before the due date. And then, you write a custom function to apply the discount and calculate the new net amount. This custom function is automatically triggered whenever the execution criteria has been met. This way, custom function helps you to automate complex business tasks while leaving no room for errors or reminders. Read more.




2) Back up your data

Periodically download your complete organizational details to your hard-drive from Zoho Inventory in a single compressed file. This compressed file will consist of CSV files that belong to the various modules of Zoho Inventory. You can back up your data once in every 15 days from the date of your last backup. Read more.




3) Export files in XLSX format with password protection

Zoho Inventory now supports XLSX format for export files. You can also protect this file with a password. This allows you to securely export files containing sensitive information. For example, your client details is confidential to your organization and you cannot risk having it fall into the wrong hands. In that case, while exporting your contact information, you can add a secure password to protect it. Read more.




4) Export warehouse details in XLS format

Now export your warehouse report for a customized period in XLS format.




5) Quick Create option for the Packages module

Similar to the other modules, you can now quick-create packages directly from the side bar in Zoho Inventory. Some organizations prefer not to disclose the item pricing or the sales amount to their packaging staff. Having a quick create option helps the admin of your organization to create a role exclusively for your warehouse staff to create packages without disclosing the sales details. 6) Record Partial Returns on a Delivery Challan - Indian Edition

In some situations, all the goods that you transport may not go into sale. If your customer decides to return some of them in the last minute, then you can bill them only for the accepted goods and record a return of the rest in Zoho Inventory. Read more.
