Hello Everyone,
June is here and we're back with a hoard of new updates to Zoho Books. Read on to know more about them.
GDPR and Zoho Books
With the GDPR season hitting the town, Zoho Books has also updated its features to help your business stay GDPR compliant. So, you can now:
I) Set limits on your users’ access to the sensitive data of your contacts. You can do this by enabling or disabling the option
Provide access to Personally Identifiable Information
in the Users and Roles section.
II) Choose to encrypt and store data in the custom fields you create.
III) Prevent users who do not have access to Personally Identifiable Information from exporting them.
Zoho Books - Zoho People Integration
Manage your accounting and your employees side by side with the all-new Zoho Books - Zoho People integration. So, you can now use the real-time sync in the integration to view the projects and tasks available in Zoho People, track your employees’ work time accurately and make payments based on their hours of work.

Record Landed Costs
Calculate profits accurately by keeping track of all the additional costs spent on bringing the goods to your warehouse. Zoho Books now lets you record landed costs to your bills and allocate them appropriately to your purchase items. So, all additional charges such as freight, shipping charges, customs, handling charges and so on are carefully recorded. So, even if you have insurance from one vendor and shipping from another, you can easily allocate costs to your multiple vendors.

Track Stock Effectively
With this update, Zoho Books gives you a better view of your stock. You can view your accounting stock and physical stock distinctively if you have enabled the Zoho Inventory integration. Also, you can see the stock level in each warehouse within Zoho Books.
If you are just using Zoho books, we still have news for you, as you can still see the Stock on Hand, Committed Stock and the Stock Available for Sale in the Items module of Zoho Books.
Customize Journal Numbers (India)
Adding new manual journals to your Zoho Books organization just got finer. You can now choose to let Zoho Books auto-generate journal numbers or manually enter them when you create and import journals.

Filter and Email Outstanding Transactions
Want to send your customers their statement only for the outstanding amount? You can now generate a report for the outstanding transactions of a customer from the contacts module. Email the outstanding transactions and get paid faster.
Discount Handling in the UAE
We’ve updated our discount handling in Zoho Books. As per the FTA, the discount applied
on items in transactions should be split between the taxable amount and the tax. Let’s say the price of an item is AED 200 and a 5% tax will be charged on the item making the total price of the item as 210 and the tax amount as 10. The vendor announces a discount of 10% on the product. And now when a discount is applied, AED 20 will be deducted from the taxable amount and AED 1 from the tax as discount making the invoice total as AED 189.
Enhanced Reports
The reports module in Zoho Books just got better. You can now use the advanced filters in the Payments Received report and filter transactions based on a customer or a certain amount or even a transaction mode.
Not just that. The Trial Balance supports filter by reporting tags as well.
Introducing Retainer Invoices (UK)
Retainer Invoices are now open for customers using the UK edition of Zoho Books. So, you can now record the advance payments you collect from your customers for the goods or services you will be offering to them. To enable Retainer Invoices, navigate to Settings > More Settings > Preferences > General and enable the Retainer Invoices.
