Signifying that script is un-saved.
Update creator.zoho.com's <title> in Edit mode so that it is easy to see in a web-browser's multi-tab view that there is script that is unsaved. Perhaps also indicate which script block is opened in the <title> as well. Basically, what ever is the text where it says "[formname] > [fieldname] > [action]" (and where it indicates a * for unsaved script) at the top-center of the page, that should be the page's <title> so that this information is easily and quickly available in a multi-tab/multi-window
Checkbox alignment
Is there a way to align the check boxes and radio buttons to the left side of the form, directly under the question? I've searched the fourms and can't seem to find anything...
Cycle 3: The Path Forward
Since Cycle 2 has been completed and Gave has stepped down, the community needs to consider a path forward for Cycle 3. I'm fine being the new coordinator, unless somebody else feels strongly about this. In this role, I will again offer a ZOHO app for you to submit ideas, followed by an evaluation phase with Charles et. al, and finally a voting phase. Let's discuss the path forward for at least the next several days before we start the ideation session.... Thanks,John (NiskyPTO)
Cycle 2: HTML View To PDF
As you will see here ... http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community/#Topic/2266000000398836 ... the suggestion made by user deepa7476 (HTML View to PDF - http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community/?ftid=2266000000361648) was voted by the Community as the one to be developed by the dedicated resource at the ZOHO Creator Team. I have opened this post so that all details pertaining to the design, development, testing and implementation of this feature can be discussed in a central place. I urge Charles
Changing Section for a form or view is not convenient
I created a application with more 50 forms/views. In "Customize>Rearrange Link>", it is very unconvenient and is unendurable for me to change the section for a form or view if I have more than 50 forms/views. Sometimes it take me 1 minute to move a form from a section to another section. Kindly watch the attached vedio. Kunji from Baihui
Cycle 2: Scheduler
Suggestion: Scheduler Purpose: Allow admin to create timed actions without any user inputs Motivation: This is already on the list of features Zoho is working on (http://zohocreator.wiki.zoho.com/Working-on.html). However, I think it would greatly benefit the user community to have this feature available now. I'm constantly comparing Zoho Creator to SharePoint workflows with my colleagues. But this comparison falls down in the case of timing future actions. You can do it with SharePoint, so why not
New Tab Creation option.
Hi, i am satisfied with the way of zoho handling the field level customization. But it would be a great advantage if create new/custom tab or module in addition to this. I have seen in one of the blogs that zoho is going to implement this too in future. Whe can we expect this feature to be available for us? any idea on it? Regards, Pavan
Cycle 2: Rich-text editor for multi-line input field
Suggestion: Rich-text editor for multi-line input field Purpose: Allow users to type rich-text in the mult-line field. Motivation: Basic rich-text (bold, underline, italics, fonts, font colors, font sizes, hyperlinks) allows users to be more expressive when conveying information in a form. This is an often requested feature and is in the roadmap. Example: An announcement board to post news relevant to an organization. Colors and links will provide extra detail than just plain text. Implementation:
Cycle 2: Custom Authentication Methods
Suggestion: Custom Authentication Methods Purpose: Allow admin to create a custom authentication mechanism not tied to the Zoho user ID system Motivation: Custom applications that are purchased by corporate entities and organizations may take issue at having to use Zoho accounts. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with Zoho accounts, it just that there may be policies requiring certain auth methods OR member contact data may be viewed as propriety information and cannot be released outside the
Sharing
Hello, i had shared by app to a user. I removed the user from sharing list and now the app is not shared with anyone anymore. now i am trying to share my app someone new but it doesent work! Any idea? thanks
How to show Image file in browser?
Is there a way to have a direct link to an image file that someone has uploaded in my Zoho Creator, such that clicking on the link will cause the image to display in their browser (as opposed to prompting them to download the file)? Right now, I am having companies fill out the form, which includes uploading their company logo. The logo displays just fine in the Creator Form View, but if I copy the URL path to the image, it only includes a link to download the file. I would like to have a link
Cycle 2: Voting Phase
The Voting Phase for the Second Cycle of the Community Driven Feature (to be developed by the ZOHO Creator Team) can now begin. John Whitney (user niskypto) has developed a ZOHO Creator Application to enable users to cast their votes. It can be accessed here http://creator.zoho.com/niskypto/comdriven/# The Voting Phase will remain open until midnight on Satuday, August/15 2009. Here is a recap of the 6 submissions you can vote on. deepa7476 - HTML view to PDF http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community/?ftid=2266000000361648
Dates/Time fields will not update with 00:00:00 specified for time
I have a form with a date/time field and it generates an error with the time of 00:00:00. Why?
Cycle 2: Suggestions Phase has Ended ...

Cycle 2: Hide, Disable and Change Face Text of Buttons in Stateless Forms
Suggestion: Allow developers to control (via deluge script) the visibility, state and face text of Buttons in Stateless forms. Purpose: Improve the ... - efficiency of designing/developing Applications with Stateless Forms - usability of such Forms at run time Motivation: If Developers could ... - hide/show - enable/disable - change face text of ... Buttons on a Stateless Form ... it would enhance the versatility of the of such Forms ... and the Application in turn. Based on run time conditions,
Cycle 2 : HTML view to PDF
Purpose: At instances where HTML views are used to generate dynamic reports, the user can have a copy of the report ( at a given point of time) , and can also share it as attachment in private ( with people outside the ZC application) Motivation: Apart from using HTML view to create dashboards, this is also used to pull out data across multiple forms / views based on specific criteria ( a.k.a parameters).Sometimes, these reports are generated via user selected values, more so in an interactive manner.
Cycle 2: Built-in Function ReplaceAll(searchString,replacementString)
I am re-submiting the suggestion to have a ZOHO Creator built-in function to replace "all specified character patterns in a named field/variable" with "another specified character pattern". Suggestion: Provide a ZOHO Creator built-in function that will replace all occurences of a specified SubString within a specified String (field or variable) with another specified String. Purpose: Perform Text Replacement operations ... - easily ... one simple command instead of recursively calling a User Defined
Sample Suggestion Submission for Cycle #2
Over here ... here http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community?ftid=2266000000337629 ... it is mentioned that suggestions for Cycle #2 of the Community Driven Feature be submitted using a Template format. This is a sample of the suggested Template ... provided by user niskypto (John Whitney) ... that refers to the winning entry for Cycle #1 ... hopefully, it will assist you in formulating your own suggestions for Cycle #2. Suggestion: iCal Feed Purpose: Enable an application to push event-oriented data
Community Driven Feature ... Cycle #2
They tell me that the Community Driven Feature (voted in Cycle 1) is almost complete. So it is time to commence Cycle #2. Rules of Engagement ... a) In order to organize/manage this process, each suggestion must be started as a new post ... b) Use this template ... proposed by user niskypto (John Whitney) ... to make your case. Suggestion: What is your feature title (short)? Purpose: What does this feature do? Motivation: Why would anyone want this feature? What's your personal experience that lead
Invite User
I invited a user to a Creator App, but he can't access it. When he follows the link in the invitation mail he receives a notice that he has no permissions. Thank you.
OpenUrl Ajax Popup w AutoClose [Similar to the popup while clicking Add Record in a View]
Hi, We've all seen the Ajax Popup Form, when we clicked add or edit on a List View. How about this Ajax popup feature given to us via script for our OpenUrl functions. This way we wouldn't have to worry about Popup Blockers, or about Closing the window when we're done. Two birds in one stone, and it's already been developed! How does it sound?
Result of Voting for Cycle 1 of Community Driven Feature
Congratulations John (niskypto) on having one of your suggestions ... G. niskypto - iCal Feed - http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community?ftid=2266000000243190 ... voted as the Community's choice for the first Community Driven Feature to be presented to the ZOHO Creator Team for development by a Resource dedicated to this channel. Supporting Application ...
With voting deadline for the first cycle just round the corner ... its time to start defining, designing and developing the Application to support the selection of future cycles of the Community Driven Features initiative. I'll leave the two voulnteers ... John (niskypto) and Deepa (deepa7476) to consult each other and come up with a division of labour in the development of this ZOHO creator Application. But first, I'd like to make some suggestions for the scope and design of this Application. Here
Deadlines for Suggestions/Discussions and Voting re: Cycle #1
Please note that new submissions for Cycle #1 of the Community Driven Feature will not be considered after Wednesday May/6 2009 (11:59 P.M. PST). Also, I am hoping to open up the current submissions for Voting by the Community on Monday May/11 ... and close voting on Wednesday May/13 (11:59 P.M. PST). Gaev
Eye Candy for List Views ...
Although I would like the first Community Driven Feature to be the development of the "ReplaceAll built-in Function" that I suggested here ... http://help.zoho.com/portal/en/community?ftid=2266000000242421 ... for those of you that feel there is insufficient benefit to be derived from being able to transform template Emails and HTML Views with speed and ease ... I suggest another feature here for your consideration. This suggestion is actually a collection "eye candy" improvements relating to the
Voting Procedure for Cycle #1
Here, I would like to make suggestions and get input from the community about the process of Voting for the very first Cycle of the Community Driven Feature. While we can refine this process in subsequent cycles ... after learning from the experience with the first cycle ... I suggest the following simple process ... a) The voting be conducted openly and transparently. b) We deploy this forum for the community to vote their preferences ... I will start a new topic for this purpose ... community members
iCal Feed
Suggestion: iCal Feed Purpose: Enable an application to push event-oriented data to an external calendar (like Google calendar) via the iCal standard. Motivation: The built-in calendar view is simplistic and has many limitations compared to other calendar applications. Building a custom html view may be possible, but would entail large complexities. While there may eventually be programmatic connectivity between Zoho Calendar and Creator, providing an iCal feed would be a logical first step AND significantly
PDF of HTML view
Hi, HTML views are primarily used as dynamic reports, passing some unique ID as paramter. It only makes sense to have the "report" as pdf file that can be saved ( & emailed if need be) Do you guys think, ZC users could use this ???
Decision Box Display 'Alias' True = 'custom msg' False = 'custom msg'
Hi, Here is a small but extremely useful feature. Decision boxes are extremely useful in terms of simplicity and elegance of input: Check or Uncheck As against individual radio buttons, with Yes or No or XXXXXX or __ But on the Views we see values such as True or False. The text is Black and it doesn't help to distinguish between both at a glance, as we don't have colour variations for different values, and as Gaev has pointed out so many times, each lacking
Opening Remarks from the Community Representative ...
Thank you Charles for inviting me to be the Community Representative. I am happy to quarter back this process and deliver the User Community's collective decision regarding the first feature to be developed. As I am charting new territory here ... I don't know of any other vendors offering this kind of formal channel for their User Community ... so I suspect we will not get it all right the very first time. Hence my approach is to invite all users to not only make their suggestions for Candidate
Built-in Function ReplaceAll(searchString,ReplacementString)
Following my own suggested guidelines for proposing a Community Feature for the very first cycle, I suggest that ZOHO Creator provide a new built-in String Function that would ... Replace all Occurences of a specified SubString within a specified String (field or variable) with another specified SubString ... for example ... sourceVariable = "Jack and Jill went to Jack's place in the city";
searchString = "Jack";
replacementString = "Bill"
resultVariable = sourceVariable.ReplaceAll(searchString,replacementString);
Query functionality in list view
Hi, I feel one feature that can significantly enhance user-friendliness of ZC is some kind of query functionality (run-time) in the list view. Presently we have the search functioanlity. But it does not support search based on boolean logic (for example status of project being "Completed" OR "Nearing Completion", start date being BETWEEN 01-April-2008 and 31-March-2009, etc.) Using custom filters do not give so much freedom to user as in the case where he/she enters criteria values to run the
Multi-dimensional Lists
Hi, I had given a 'green-light' for Gaev's suggestion for 'search & replace' functionality to be our next community-driven feature. But in the event that the function might be anything less powerful than Regex itself, or take 'a considerable amount of dev time' to implement, which any good function normally would, I propose this feature instead: Multi-dimensional lists with sort functionality. Currently we can have a List Animals: lion fox bear gazelle fish BUT: I would like to be able to have List
Welcome to the Community Driven Features Section
Welcome to the Community Driven Features section of the Zoho Creator forum. This section has been setup for the express purpose of facilitating the newly announced "Community Feature" of Zoho Creator to enable the User Community to have a say in the new features to be delivered by us.(Zoho Creator Development Team). The rules of engagement are simple; Users suggest, discuss the relative merits and vote for new features that would benefit the wider Zoho Creator User Community. The most popular
