Associating Actions in Zoho IoT: A Comprehensive Guide

Associating Actions


The Email Notification, Webhook, Custom Function, and Push Notification actions created in the application can be associated with categories such as Alarm Rules, Workflows, and Notification Profiles to automatically trigger the actions based on certain conditions. For instance, it ensures that any threshold breach or device failure can immediately be notified (via email), trigger actions (via webhooks), execute custom functions, or as notification alerts. 

Associating Action with Alarm Rule 

To associate with the alarm rule:
1. Follow the steps provided in the Creating Alarm Rule Templates or Alarm Rules to create an alarm rule template or alarm rule, respectively. Else, edit an existing alarm rule.
2. Traverse to the Configure Actions section.
3. Click Add Actions against Configure Actions.
4. Select Email Notification, Webhook, or Custom Function from the drop down list.

Push Notification action is currently not available for Alarm Rules
5. Select the checkbox against the action you want to associate, then click Associate.



Associating Action with Notification Profile 

To associate with the notification profile:
1. Follow the steps provided in the Configuring Notification Profiles to create a notification profile.
2. Traverse to the Configure Actions section.
3. Click Add Actions or Edit Actions against Configure Actions.
4. Select Email Notification, Webhook, Custom Functions, or Push Notifications from the drop-down list.
5. Select the checkbox against the action you want to associate, then click Associate.
 



Associating Action with Wokflow Rule

To associate with the workflow rule:
1. Follow the steps provided in the Configuring Workflow Rules to create a workflow rule.
2. Traverse to the Actions section.
3. Click Add Actions or Edit Actions against Configure Actions.
4. Select Email Notification, Webhook, Custom Functions, or Push Notifications from the drop-down list.
5. Select the checkbox against the action you want to associate, then click Associate.
