Dependency Status

Users can view dependent tasks and their status (either Waiting for or Blocking ) in the task details page. If the dependency status in a task's detail page is shown as Waiting for, it means the task is waiting for other tasks to be completed before it can be start. If the status is shown as Blocking, it means the task is blocking other tasks from starting before its completion. Task dependency status lets you know if a task is waiting for other tasks or is blocking other tasks from completion.

Tasks can be filtered by dependency status in all the task views and saved as a custom view in the Classic and Plain view. This setting can be enabled from Global Setup ().

Benefits

  1. View which tasks are waiting for the current task to finish
  2. View which tasks are blocking the current tasks
  3. Filter tasks by the dependency status

Enable Dependency Status

Navigate to  > Portal Configuration > Task & Timesheet > Task Settings > Dependency Status and toggle the setting.

You can view the task dependency status in the classic, plain, Kanban view of tasks. The dependency status is also shown in the task details page.

View Dependency Status in Task Details Page

The task details page displays the dependency status of the task. Meaning, if the task is either waiting for other tasks to be completed or blocking other tasks from starting.  Hovering over the status will show the list of affected tasks. The dependent tasks can be accessed by clicking on the task name.

Filter Tasks by Dependency Status

Users can filter tasks by dependency status.
  1. Navigate to a project and click on the Tasks tab in the left navigation pane.
  2. Click the filter icon () in the top right corner.
  3. Navigate to Dependency Status filter option.
  4. Select any of the options from Blocking tasks, Waiting for tasks, and Independent tasks.
  5. Click Find.

Save Results to Custom View

The filtered results can be saved to a custom view.
  1. Click on Save as option in the filter results page.
  2. Select New Custom View.
  3. Update the Criteria if required.
  4. Enter a Custom View Name.
  5. Select one of the Accessibility options.
  6. Click Save.
  7. View the tasks based on the custom view from the task Classic and Plain view.
