Generative AI for Assessments
AI Assist brings automation and intelligence to assessment creation in Zoho Recruit, enabling hiring teams to quickly generate skill-based, role-tailored tests and challenges.
Whether developing technical coding questions, aptitude quizzes, or system design exercises, AI Assist reduces manual effort, ensures standardization, and enhances the speed and fairness of candidate evaluation—all from within the familiar recruitment workflow.
Privacy and Security Measures
Zoho maintains strong privacy and data security standards during assessment generation:
- AI Assist processes only non-sensitive, generic assessment fields for content generation, not personally identifiable or confidential data.
- All operations comply with GDPR and HIPAA requirements where applicable.
- Candidate answers and assessment results are not accessed or used by the generative AI engine, preserving candidate privacy.

Generating Assessments with AI Assist
- Go to the Assessments module and click the Create Assessment icon.
- In the pop-up that is displayed, click the Generate with AI icon for your preferred assessment category.

- You will then see the Create Assessment page with the Key Fields section of the prompt window open. Enter the following details:

- Posting Title
Mention the role/position for which you're creating the assessment. If you are creating an assessment for general purposes, leave this field empty. - Assessment Type
Enter which assessment type you wish to use. Default options include General, Pre-screening, Behavioral Screening, etc. - Industry
Mention which industry the role/position falls under. Leave this field empty if you do not have one in mind. - Difficulty Level
Specify how challenging the assessment must be for the candidate. Select one option from Basic, Intermediate, Advanced or Expert. - Question Type [Candidate Assessments Only]
Pick what question types you wish to include in your assessment. Available options include: Single Line, Paragraph, Radio, Drop-down, Yes/No, and Multi-select. - Include Hints
Specify whether you wish to include hints for candidates in your assessment. - Once you're done, click Generate.
- The assessment will then be generated and populated inside the prompt window.

- You can use pre-defined or custom prompts to optimize the assessment questions as per your requirements.

- Click the Insert Assessment icon and close the editor when finished.

- If you wish to make edits, you will find options to generate the entire assessment, a specific competency or a specific question as shown in the image below. Click Save when you're done making edits.

- Your assessment will then be saved and can be used to evaluate candidates in Zoho Recruit.

Note: When editing an assessment, generating new questions and clicking Insert Assessment will overwrite the existing questions. The old questions cannot be recovered once you click Save.
