How to create data validation?
Create a data validation for cells
To create data validation:
- Click Data > Data Validation.
- You can choose the required range to apply data validation from the dialog shown below.
The options that are available include the following: Decimal number, Whole number, Text, Text length, Date & Time, List, Cell range.
Note:
You can choose a list of values that will be entered into a particular column before using data validation. There will be a drop down list displaying the values you have chosen and you can pick your value from the available list.
You can also set a legend near a particular cell that uses data validation to regulate its data and a warning error alert when the data validation condition is not followed. It can be done from the Data Validation box.
Edit data validation conditions
To manage data validation:
- Click Data validation > Manage Validation.
- You can choose the settings icon near every validation condition in order to edit, copy or clear the available validations.
Clear a data validation condition
To clear data validation:
- Choose the particular cell or the range of cells from which you want to clear data validation.
- Click on the Clear option on the toolbar.
- Click on Clear Data Validation.
