Create pivot tables to analyse your data
Create a pivot table in sheet
To create a pivot table:
- Click Data > Pivot Table.
- Choose the range of cells from which the table is to be constructed and where the table must be created
- Drag and drop the fields into the desired positions in the Pivot Table Builder and click Generate.
- Use Reset to remove all the fixed fields.
If you wish to copy the pivot table's data (filtered or unfiltered) to a new sheet, right click on the cells of the desired pivot table with numerical values and select Show Details. Alternatively, you can double-click on the cells of the desired pivot table with numerical values to copy the data (filtered or unfiltered) to a new sheet.
Edit an existing pivot table
To edit a pivot table:
- Right click on the pivot table to be edited.
- Select Builder.
- Make the desired changes and click Generate.
Alternatively, move your selection to the Pivot table. Click on the contextual pivot table side pane, and edit the table.
Move a pivot table across sheets
To move a pivot table:
- Right click on the pivot table to be moved.
- Select Move from the contextual menu.
- Choose the destination sheet i.e. new sheet or an existing sheet and click OK.
Change the style of a pivot table
To change the style of a pivot table:
- Click on the pivot table.
- The Pivot Table context menu opens on the right.
- Select the desired Table Styles, Color Schemes and click Generate.
View the subtotal of the data in a pivot table
To view the total:
- Click on the pivot table.
- Go to Customize in the contextual menu on the right.
- Turn on/off the Subtotal, Column Grand Total and Row Grand Total as per your necessity.
Hide errors and repeat unique labels
To repeat unique labels:
- Click on the pivot table you wish to repeat labels.
- Go to Customize and turn on the Repeat Item Labels option.
Errors in a pivot table occur if incorrect formula or calculation errors exist in the source data. To hide errors in a pivot table:
- Click on the pivot table you wish to hide errors.
- Go to Customize and turn on the Hide Errors option.
With the Repeat Item Labels option, you can also repeat unique date fields in the pivot table as shown here.
Group and ungroup data in a pivot table
To group the data in a pivot table:
- Right-click on the pivot table and click Group.
- Edit the minimum, maximum, and the range values as needed. Click OK.
- To ungroup the data in a pivot table, select Ungroup from the right-click menu.
Delete a pivot table
To delete a pivot table:
Right click on the pivot table and click Delete, or select the table and go to Custom > Delete in the Pivot Table context menu on the right.
