Deploying to production

Any changes made to a bot or its underlying actions would only be saved as a draft in the development environment (which is provided to make the required changes on the bot and test) and these changes will not be available on the bot in production. Thus, for the bot to understand the addition of any new actions, removal or modifications made in the existing actions, the bot has to be deployed to production.

This is necessary to ensure that you can make seamless changes on the go to a bot in the development environment, that is already being consumed by the users in the production environment.

To deploy a bot to production, click the DEPLOY TO PRODUCTION button on the bot's details page.

A pop-up window will be displayed. It comprises the following sections.

Choose Actions — Under this, all actions that were modified since the previous deployment will be categorically listed. Select an action to deploy its changes to production. Any changes made in the unselected actions will not be deployed.
Release Type — Choose the appropriate release type based on your changes. Based on this, your deployment will be given an appropriate version number.
Release Notes — Notes about the changes made, for your future reference.

After mentioning all the required values, click the DEPLOY button. On successful deployment, any changes made to the bot and its underlying actions would be reflected on the bot in production.

Please note that the DEPLOY TO PRODUCTION button will be visible only if there are any changes made in any of the underlying actions that you have written.

A log of all the deployments of a bot can be found under the VERSION HISTORY tab on the bot's details page.
