Using sublevels improves navigation, readability, and scalability, especially as your knowledge base grows.
Sublevels are nested levels created under a main (parent) category such as a chapter or articles in the Knowledge section.
They allow you to:
Group related articles together
Establish a clear content hierarchy
Reduce clutter in top-level categories
Build a structured, scalable knowledge base
Zoho Learn supports 10 levels of nesting.Use sublevels when:
A chapter contains many articles
Topics can be logically grouped
Multiple teams or functions share a common parent topic
Navigate to the manual where you want to create a sublevel.
Publish your first article or create a chapter.
Click the ➕ (Add) icon next to the published article or chapter.
Choose the appropriate option and start creating content.
The new sublevel will appear nested under the selected parent category.
You can:
Rename a sublevel to reflect updated content
Move it under a different parent category
Delete it if it’s no longer required
Deleting a sublevel does not automatically delete its articles unless you explicitly choose to do so.Navigate to the sublevel.
Click More Options.
Select Rename.
Enter the new name and click Save.
To change the order of sublevels:
Drag the sublevel and drop it into the desired position.
You can share an article within a sublevel by copying its link:
Navigate to the article.
Click the More Options icon.
Select Copy Link.
To duplicate an article in a sublevel:
Open the article.
Click More Options.
Choose Duplicate.
To move an article to a different location:
Navigate to the article.
Click More Options.
Select Move and choose the new location.
You can choose to trash an individual sublevel or choose to trash the sublevel along with its nested sublevels.
Navigate to the sublevel that you want to trash.
Click More Options
Click Move to Trash
Once you've trashed a sulevel, it will no longer be accessible until restored. You can restore trashed sublevels. Restored sublevels may not retain their original content hierarchy. You can reorder them manually to achieve the desired hierarchy.
Click Manual Options.
Choose Trashed Articles.
4. Click Restore.
Click Manual Options.
Choose Trashed Articles.
Select the sublevel you want to delete.
Click Delete.
