Introducing New APIs and Updates

We are excited to introduce the new APIs and enhancements to our existing ones in Zoho Contracts. Here’s a brief overview:

1. Transfer Contract Ownership
You can now transfer the ownership of a list of contracts to another user. 
           
Sample Usecase:
When creating a contract from an external application, there may be situations where you need to assign the contract to another person within your organization. In this scenario, you can use the Transfer Contract Ownership API to reassign the contract to your account manager.

2. Clause Overrides key in Creation APIs
With the addition of the Clause Overrides key to the Create Contract and Create Contract with Values for Document Fields APIs, you can now deselect any default clauses. And dynamically select alternative languages for selected clauses with their selection or deselection status. 

Sample Usecase:
Your business operates in multiple regions with varying legal requirements, necessitating region-specific contract clauses. For example, you might have a standard clause regarding data privacy that complies with GDPR. If you have clients in a region where GDPR does not apply, but another local data privacy law does, you need to select an alternative clause that fits that region's laws. 

In this scenario, using the Clause Overrides key, you can dynamically select the appropriate alternative clause for the client's region and deselect the standard one. This automates the process of selecting appropriate clauses while creating a contract and reduces the need of multiple contract templates.

Note: You can locate the API name for a Clause and Alternative Clause language in the URL by editing them within the Clause Library.

3. Contract Type Template All Fields
You can now get the details of all fields present in the contract type template, including those in the other alternative languages of both selected and non-selected clauses. 

Sample Usecase:
When dynamically selecting alternative clauses for different regions, it is crucial to ensure that all relevant fields within your contract templates are correctly populated.

For example, if your standard data privacy clause complies with GDPR but you need to switch to a clause that complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for a client in California, you must fill in all the fields associated with the CCPA clause.

In this scenario, you can use the Contract Type Template All Fields API to fetch all fields in the contract template, including those in alternative languages and for both selected and non-selected clauses, and pass the values to those fields in the contract creation APIs.
