How do we associate a service item to timesheet tasks in Zoho Books? For example: Joe spent 5 hours on project:task1 which is Service Item#1 (Income:Service1). When the invoice is issued thru the Project Invoice section, this is not available. When the invoice is issued thru Sales section and we bring in the time to be billed, it shows up as a second section from the Service Item. Any hints or assistance appreciated, been trying to get this nailed down for several months and need to start sending clients invoices directly from Zoho (vs. offline). Thanks!

@VladimirRuntu, thanks for the workaround solution. It sounds a bit complicated but may consider trying this as an alternative if I have to. However, based on Zoho's solution of "Go to invoices >> create a new invoice >> click on the 3 dot icon on the right hand side of each line in the item table >> show additional information >> now you will get the option to choose the income account for that line", I am wondering if there a way to use the "Bulk Update" feature to make changes to multiple transaction lines?

@user1, I think income account comes from added service item automatically, if you define one in the service item.

Zoho, please see how this request I made from 4 years ago is still a pain point for your users. We have many errors when invoices are created with time logged and what seems like a simple solution on your part could avoid this time consuming task to work around it. Please revisit this request!

Another Zoho One user (have been using different zoho products for 15+years) here that is experiencing the same disappointment and frustration with this ridiculous (lack of) implementation!  I absolutely cannot believe that you actually created an integration that creates new item types on the fly instead of at the absolute least forcing a default item type like "sales".  I still have to do the create, copy, paste, delete workflow mentioned above, at least with Zoho Desk time invoices. PLEASE make this a priority! I 100% guarantee that if you'd let me loose on your code, I could have this developed in a month. I have no idea why one of the larger SaaS companies out there is finding this so difficult to implement, unless your backend structure is a complete disaster. This is a HUGE potential selling point for you, but instead you've chosen to squander the opportunity that this would be for the last 5 years. This is an embarrassment of an implementation. Please fix this asap!

Hello,

I understand that this is a much needed feature for you. We indeed have this in our work list, but due to other priorities we're unable to say when we can bring this on. Please be assured that we are tracking your requests in this thread and will update here when the feature is at hand.

Any news on this?

I have to use published LEDES billing codes for billable "activities" for legal services. I assume these would be the equivalent of a "price book" or maybe a picklist of LEDES activities.

To complete any given task in Projects may require one or several different billable activities.

I need these activities present in Projects, Books, and People with the hourly price modifiable by the role of the user working on any given project using LEDES or an alternative activities list such as what is required by different court programs for "court appointed" lawyers, with variable hourly rates based on the user's role; i.e. for principal lawyer, associate lawyer, law clerk, paralegal, legal assistant, etc.

Can this be done so that these set billable activities are able to be selected in a Projects timesheet under each discrete task and show up in Books?

Hello,

We do not have any significant progress since our last comment. Although it is part of our plans, we are currently not working on an immediate release.

In Zoho Books, tasks are considered the granular level of a project, and service items cannot be linked directly to a task. As for your requirements, please try creating the billable activities as separate tasks. You can set hourly rates for the users based on the tasks they are working on. The tasks created in Zoho Projects and Zoho People will be synced to Zoho Books, and not the other way around.

Zoho Cares.

I am wondering if you are trying to implement this solution, for the purpose of sending out a normal looking invoice, for a lawyer, or a service professional, that needs to bill by the hour and provide the customer an invoice tracking each task and the time spent on the task per day (not lumped together) with the following columns:  (1) date work completed; (2)what work was completed (3) Individual Time for Task (4) Hourly Rate (5) Total for Line Item (Time for Task x hourly Rate).  Although this should be supported natively by Zoho books, and it sort of is, except not so straight forward, I think you can use the api and make an invoice writer doc, to accomplish at least the form part of this issue, which should at least be presentable to a client.  Zoho needs to make a few very simple modules to accomplish this goal, and it should have been completed at the outset, as service business's are the bread and butter of the companies using Quickbooks.  So surprised that Zoho has not caught on to this issue?

Has anyone tried using the solution at the below link?

I've included a screenshot of the reply from Zoho Cares, and the image attached to it.

I have tried it with a draft invoice, which seems to work, but haven't yet sent it out, or been able to confirm that upon payment of the invoice the revenue is split between the required income accounts.

In my situation, though I've created the item and matched it to the desired income account, it's more important for me to log timesheet hours to a task within a project. All I need to do when raising the invoice (which lists each task in separate invoice lines) is to change the income account for that line item.

Like I said, I've not yet sent out an invoice or reconciled a payment using this, but it looks promising.

We are in need to track time spent on a service items and have those auto adjust for OT and DT while working at clients sites. We also need to have the ability to set the rate of a project task based on the service item not just by user or a fixed setting. We also must have the ability to leverage the differences between the negotiated rates between different clients. We're new to Zoho, trying to get of off QBO, but QBO has the service item time tracking down, we're trading one pain point for another.

There is still not a less time consuming process to achieve this
request?  I'm a QB desktop convert and this seems like an easy mapping
fix.  Either we can add it to the tasks or project?  Can each user
adding billable time be assigned to an income account?

I
don't want to assign the account to every line item of an invoice.  We
also have to assign a custom tag for all line items and not the entire
invoice.

What are the other resolutions?
