Tip #19: Review images in documents using Writer's markup tools
Say you're working on a new branding idea. You quickly create a document scribbling down your ideas, drafting some copies and also adding multiple design mocks that you'd want your team to take a look at.
While your collaborators post their thoughts about the ad copies by quickly adding a comment on it, discussing on those design mocks can get tricky at times.
On this week's tip, let's take a look at some tools in Writer that lets you easily navigate through all the images in a document as well as add contextual feedback on them.
Navigate through images
1. Select the image and click on the Preview Image option from the left side of the image.
Now you will be able to preview the image and navigate through all the other images in the document as well.
Add contextual feedback
1. Once you've navigated through the images, select the image that you want to annotate and click on Edit.
2. Alternatively, you can directly select the image from the document and click on the Annotate Image option from the left side of the image.
3. You will be taken to the screen below. From here, you can choose how you want to annotate the image from the options on the left. The function of each tool has been labelled in the image below.
4. Using the markup tools, you can circle objects, highlight areas, add comments, or even insert criticality tags to let the collaborator know how important the feedback is.
5. If you're working with images that contain sensitive information, you can use the
Concealing Tools
to blur or smudge specific portions of the image that you want to hide from your collaborators. Any markup you add becomes a part of the image, making it convenient for your designers to take feedback off Writer and bring it to their tool of choice for reference.
