Workarounds for Project Calendar to Zoho Calendar sync?

it's by now clear that the link between Zoho Project calendar and the Zoho Mail/Calendar is a real problem. I've been looking for solutions to this; for example, when a notification comes in from Zoho Projects for a meeting that has been established, I can set that as a task (and even add in reminders).
However, I am sure there are other, more creative ways out there to solve this problem. All I'd like to do is create a meeting on my calendar in Zoho Mail / Calendar (as I might, say, in Outlook) and have it automagically create a meeting in the appropriate project. Simple, right?
Well, not so much. What ways have you found to make these two calendars workable?
