Overview
Zoho Backstage now supports integration with SUNMI Smart Mobile Terminals, offering event organizers a seamless and portable solution for attendee check-in and badge printing.
Why use SUNMI?
Carrying separate printers to events and maintaining them can be inconvenient.
SUNMI V2s Plus solves this by combining a check-in device and a thermal label printer into one compact, portable unit. These devices are easy to carry, require no dedicated setup space, and support both transparent and opaque labels.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure the following requirements are met:
- SUNMI Device: A SUNMI V2s Plus smart mobile terminal with an inbuilt thermal printer.
- Zoho Backstage for Organizers Android App:
- The app must be downloaded and installed on the SUNMI device from the Google Play store.
- Sign in using your organizer credentials.
- Badge Design Setup:
- Badge labels must be designed in advance using the Badge Designer in Zoho Backstage.
- Label Roll Setup:
- Use supported label rolls (transparent or opaque).
- Minimum label height: 20 mm
- Label width (print head): 80 mm
- Roll diameter: up to 50 mm
- Gap between labels: 2 mm
- Printer Configuration in the App: The inbuilt SUNMI printer is automatically selected upon signing in. You can verify or change this under More > Printer Setup.
- Badge Printing Preferences: Enable Print Badge on Check-In if you'd like badges to print automatically during attendee check-in.
- SUNMI Device Settings: Ensure the device-level printing and scanning configurations are set correctly. Refer to the SUNMI Setup FAQ for instructions.
- Stable Internet Connection: Required for syncing attendee data and maintaining smooth check-in and printing workflows.
- App Permissions: Allow camera access.
Setting Up the Device
Scanner Setup
- Download and install the Zoho Backstage for Organizers app on the SUNMI device.
- Sign into the app with your organizer credentials. The inbuilt printer will be automatically detected and selected.
- Go to the More tab.
- Tap Printer Setup.
- Tap Default Scanner.
- Choose your preferred scanner:
- Inbuilt QR Scanner
- Back Camera
- Front Camera.
- Tap Save.
Upon installing the Zoho Backstage for Organizers app on your SUNMI device, the inbuilt QR scanner is automatically recognized and set as the default scanner.Badge Printing Preferences
- Open the Zoho Backstage for Organizers app on the SUNMI device.
- Open the More tab.
- Tap Printer Setup.
- Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner to access Badge Printing Preferences page.
- Enable Print Badge on Check-In to auto-print badges during check-in.
- Optionally, enable Silent Printing if you prefer not to receive a prompt for every scan.
- Tap Save.
Printing Labels
Ensure Print Badge on Check-In is enabled for faster check-ins.
- Open the Check-In tab.
- Choose a check-in type.
- Tap Scan QR Code.
- Scan the QR code on the attendee's ticket.
- Tap Print Badge. (The attendee will be checked in automatically)
- Your label will get printed in an instant.
Checking In Participants
Use the inbuilt QR code scanner for super fast check-ins.
- Open the Check-In tab.
- Choose a check-in type.
- Tap Scan QR Code.
- Position the scanner over the QR code and press the left or right orange button to scan.
- Tap Check In in the pop up.

For super fast check-in: Make sure Check-In Options is set to Scan and Check In. Check-in options are available at the bottom of the screen.
Switching Printers
You can change the printer if needed:
- Open the More tab.
- Tap Printer Setup.
- Tap the ➕ icon in the bottom-right corner to connect to a different printer (Network or Local)
- If the external printer is disconnected, the app will automatically revert to using the inbuilt SUNMI printer.
