3. Overview
Boards in Zoho Creator are visual elements added to pages that display key performance metrics, helping users track and compare data at a glance. They function similarly to charts and gauges by providing clear visualizations but go a step further by enabling the creation of leaderboards. Boards can be used to monitor various performance indicators, such as sales figures, task completion rates, customer ratings, or any other measurable data relevant to the application. Boards are built using the Board Builder, which provides a structured way to design and configure them. You can create them using predefined templates, then customize the layout, style, and actions to match your needs. A board consists of multiple panels, each representing collective data from a group of records, ranking, or key metric. Learn more about customizing board components.

3.2. Use cases
3.2.1 Sales Performance Leaderboard
In a Sales Management application, tracking and recognizing top-performing employees can help drive motivation and improve performance. You can use a board to create a Sales Performance Leaderboard, displaying rankings based on key sales metrics such as revenue generated, deals closed, or new clients acquired.
The board fetches data from a Sales Records form, where each submission logs details such as the employee's name, total sales, number of deals closed, and revenue earned. Employees are ranked into categories such as Top Sellers, Consistent Closers, and Rising Stars, based on their achievements over a given period. Each panel on the board represents an employee and displays their ranking, name, total sales value, and key performance indicators. This setup enables managers to identify high performers, encourage competition, and reward top sales employees effectively.
3.2.2 Order Management Application
Let's assume you've built an Order Management application that tracks customer orders as they move through different stages—Order Taken, Packed, and Delivered. The application includes an Orders form where each submission represents a new order with details such as the order ID, customer name, product details, and current order status. The order status field updates as the order progresses through various stages in the fulfillment process.
You can use a board to visually represent these stages by grouping orders based on their current status. Each panel on the board represents a stage and displays the number of orders within that category. For example, the Order Taken panel shows newly placed orders, the Packed panel displays orders that are ready for shipment, and the Delivered panel lists completed orders. This setup helps users quickly assess the orders in the pipeline, track pending orders, and identify potential delays in fulfillment.
3.3. Navigation
After you've created a page in the edit mode of your application, you can find the Board element in the left pane of the page builder. Choose a template from the list available and drag and drop the desired one into the building space. 3.4 Board builder
The Board builder in Zoho Creator allows users to design and customize boards to suit their specific needs. It provides a user-friendly interface to configure various elements and actions associated with a board.
You can configure the following properties of a board:
Display – Define how data appears on the board
Action – Set up common interactions triggered by user actions in the header of a board
Style – Customize the visual properties of the board, such as colors, fonts, and spacing, to match your preferences.

4. Points to note
- The maximum number of panels that can be added to a board is 15.
- You can only make edits to the first panel. The rest of the panels can't be customized separately and will be automatically based on the first panel's customization.
