Data cataloging

Data cataloging in Zoho DataPrep helps with data management and data discovery depending on the usage of data assets, their status, and associated information. It can be used to evaluate and implement the readiness of data for use, by intended users in an organization.

Let us take a look at the data cataloging features available in DataPrep.

Mark as ready to use

You can mark datasets as ready to use after they are prepared and available for consumption.

Click on the thumbs up icon to the left of the dataset name in the workspace details page to toggle readiness.

You can also multi-select datasets to toggle readiness between Mark as ready and Mark as not ready.

Note: The Mark as ready to use option will be available when Data catalog settings are enabled from the settings page. Click here to learn more

Add tags

You can associate tags to entities such as workspaces and datasets to identify, classify, or group them. You can also use tags as labels to quickly search for your entities in DataPrep.

To add tags to your workspaces or datasets, click on the

icon from the Tags section in the Overview pane and add tags.

You can also add tags using the + icon directly from the Workspace details page > Datasets tab > Tags column

Filter attributes

You can filter and search using filter attributes and fields such as status, created by, shared with, last modified, data quality, and tags.

Click

icon at the top-right corner of the Datasets tab to filter. The status options are all, ready to use, and not ready. The data quality options are represented in percentage to choose from or you can also customize the percentage using the Custom option.
