Using URL targeting in the Split URL test allows you to pick the specific web pages where you want to run your experiment. This is useful for presenting experiment variants on a particular set of pages, defined by their match types, such as simple URL, starts with, ends with, URL pattern match, and others, to target and run your test on the specific web pages that match this URL criteria. This option also allows you to exclude the pages on your website that you don't want to run your Split URL experiment on.
For example, let's say you want to test whether larger banner images on product pages affect conversions on your ecommerce site. In this case, you can create a URL targeting rule in Split URL to test the sample variation page across the all the web pages that start with: https://zylkerfashions.com/product.
Note: Make sure your URL targeting does not include the redirect URLs mentioned in the Split URL experiment.Alternatively, you can enable Advanced mode in the VARIATION page of the experiment.
3. Select your preferred URL match type from the dropdown and enter the specified URL pattern in the URL field.
For example, you are testing a redesigned home page of your blog site and you want to run this variation to visitors coming from all traffic sources except certain social media sites. Based on our example, we will choose the URL pattern and exclude URL conditions for the experiment as shown in the image below.
