Pay rules define how employee wages are calculated, including overtime, premium pay, and other payroll conditions. Assigning the correct pay rule to each employee ensures payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
Before you start
To assign pay rules to employees, you’ll need the Administrator access level or the Add, edit employees permission enabled.
To assign pay rule to an employee:
- Navigate to the Employees tab.
- Select the employee to whom you want to assign pay rule.
- Select the Job section.
- Choose the preferred Pay Rule from the drop-down list.
- Click the Save button at the bottom.
After the pay rule is assigned to an employee, their payroll calculation will take into account overtime, shift differentials, and other settings defined in the rule.
Employee wages
Employee wages configured in Zoho Shifts are used during payroll calculation. Administrators or users with Add, edit employees permission enabled, can assign a default hourly rate and additional hourly rates based on positions to ensure accurate wage and overtime calculations.
Default hourly rate
You can
set a default hourly rate for an employee in the Wages tab of the employee profile. This rate applies when no position-based hourly rate is assigned for a shift.
You can also manage hourly rate revisions from the same section. Any revisions will automatically reflect in payroll calculation based on the effective date and the payroll finalization time.
Hourly rate by position
In addition to the default hourly rate, you can set multiple
hourly rates based on the employee’s position in the Wages tab of the employee profile. This allows for accurate payroll and overtime calculations when employees work shifts across different positions.
